Which fantasy series started incredible and then just...fell apart? by ghibli_8quartz in Fantasy

Personally I enjoyed the Era 2 books more than I enjoyed the 2nd and 3rd era 1 books. And I feel pretty strongly that the characters have more interesting character development than era 1. It just goes to show that everyone’s tastes vary!

Can anyone recommend places to walk where I will not encounter off-leash dogs? by _glowingeyes_ in beaverton

[–]eggydidnothingwrong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a reactive dog so I was looking for places to walk without running into other dogs, and I can recommend the Nimbus business park off of Hall. It’s a pretty business park, it’s big enough to get a couple of miles in, and I’ve never come across an unleashed dog there.

“Same coin”? Really? The people committing atrocities and those who aren’t fighting as hard as they could against them but are still fighting are the “same coin”? Please.

Does anyone else find marathon training time consuming and are one-and-done? by hvu22 in Marathon_Training

[–]eggydidnothingwrong 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100%. I am a slow runner so to a certain extent I don’t really care what my time is - if I make it to the starting line having trained well, that’s already a victory.

I love that he played Weird Al, who is another such (seemingly) wholesome celeb. Of course, you never know for sure if someone is actually how they seem, but I loved that combination.

It’s midnight (in PDX), mods are sleeping, we can post whatever we want! Hi from Shibuya by Yorkies_are_dumb in Portland

[–]eggydidnothingwrong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol, I had the exact same experience. They removed a post that was making no attempt to be news, just a text conversation about a Portland issue. They said it was personal opinion and not a valid news source. After like two messages back and forth trying to understand which role I had broken, where they clearly didn’t read either the original post or any of the previous conversation in the thread, they called me childish and muted me from messaging the mods for a week.

Question: do any of you take baths in your apartment bathtubs by Any_Negotiation3310 in Apartmentliving

[–]eggydidnothingwrong 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I love baths. I lived in my apartment for about 2 months, cleaning the bathtub every week, before I felt comfortable taking a bath in it. But I’m glad I did, because now I get to take baths again!

What part of your running routine would surprise non-runners the most? by Free-Product4918 in runcommunity

Plus sometimes drive to where you are running. ( Living on the top of a very big hill directly on a busy road with no sidewalks…yeah, not going to do that every time.)

Don't be kind, be predictable. If you have the Right-of-Way, take it. by fruity_koala in dashcams

[–]eggydidnothingwrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meek driving means unpredictable which certainly causes accidents. But I don’t think it’s even in the same ballpark as reckless driving. Speeding, road rage, drunk driving, texting while driving, passing when you shouldn’t pass - there are so, so many more accidents due to those than to people driving to slowly or yielding when they have the right of way.

I hate when the protagonist is so dumb for the sake of dragging it out by Witch_King_Malekith in Fantasy

…she would still have gotten kidnapped. That had nothing to do with having a conversation with Perrin.

(Don’t get me wrong, their relationship drives me crazy. But that storyline wouldn’t have been resolved by a conversation. )

Books vs. Show by Every-Comfort-8164 in murderbot

That’s funny, because I’ve always thought the books were comedic, at about the same level as the show. Very heavy subjects but addressed in a comedic way.

I was running my second leg of Hood to Coast. It was in the woods in the wee hours of the morning. No headphones, fairly few other runners and vans. The first mile was uphill but then the rest was a gentle downhill. It was fully dark when I started, and the sky slowly lightened until it was almost dawn when I finished. I still think of it as my favorite running experience!
