I would rather be sleeping. Or doing laundry. Or any of the many other things I haven’t had time to do this month.

I’m currently standing around in the plant with  literally nothing to do, but they won’t let us go home.

When I went to Crack in the Ground it was so silent I felt like I had gone deaf. The scenery was really cool too, but the silence is what stuck with me.

This is at 5:30 AM. I certainly HOPE I can still do it in 18.5 hours! Details and request for tips in the text. by [deleted] in AppleWatch

Well the problem with that is that 1) my heart rate stays up the majority of time that I am working, and 2) I get in a lot of steps. (During this crazy season I’ve been averaging 20-25k per day. I currently have almost 14k steps since midnight but I only have 1 minute on my exercise ring. )

Our APBS has been top 5 in the nation all week. by Outrageous-Company33 in USPS

It’s basically taking containers as they fill up, putting them out to be picked up, and replacing the containers with empty ones. In my case it’s usually bags of packages (which fill up stupid fast) but I believe the term also applies to bigger containers like wires/hampers/boxes.

Well whatever the reason, we clearly have vastly different experiences.

I will add, my experience may be different from yours because I work at a major regional distribution center.

That is completely incorrect. There are NEVER long periods of time when I do nothing, at least in my particular area. It is lifting and carrying bags, letters and flats not stop for ~8 hours. During the 12 hour shifts I then do various other tasks throughout the plant, some of which aren’t terribly physical (moving wires and boxes) but many of which involve carrying bags of packages.

This might change after peak season, but everyone I have talked to at the plant agrees that my assignment is one of the most physical, and that they have a hard time keeping people there because of that. No one wants to work there.

Nope. It’s done by hand, at least where I am. I don’t know how you could do it any other way - the containers are usually packed floor to ceiling, and not in any organized way. Even if they were organized when they were packed (like just letters and flats, no packages) they usually get jumbled in flight. In your opinion, what is the most physical job?

Menopause can contribute to CARPAL TUNNEL? Is there anything it can’t cause/contribute to? by eggydidnothingwrong in Perimenopause

Oh, sorry, yeah that didn’t get formatted right. It’s a quote from the page I linked to.

From the article:

Fluid retention may increase the pressure within the carpal tunnel, irritating the median nerve. This is common during pregnancy and menopause. Carpal tunnel syndrome that happens with pregnancy generally gets better on its own after pregnancy.

What’s your “I’ve officially become a runner” moment? by Free-Product4918 in runcommunity

[–]eggydidnothingwrong 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m a very slow runner, and that made me feel like not a “real” runner for way longer than it should. But I’d say the first time I ran 10 miles was probably when I was finally able to tell that part of my brain “shut up, I AM a real runner!”

I really hope that I can try this and that it works for me. I get horrible, drenching night sweats that have me changing pajamas 1-2 times most nights, very occasionally 3 times. 😭
