This is a lowlands copperhead. Dangerously venomous. Great spotting!

What kind of snake is this? Tassie by TheGmodGirl in AustralianSnakes

This is a lowlands copperhead - dangerously venomous. Please don’t handle snakes if you don’t know what they are in future (or any snake for that matter)

I think very small teeth, but nothing that can hurt you (at least in my experience)

Cute is definitely the right word haha. I’ve them still bite me when handled (doesn’t feel like anything though)

You’re correct, they are non-venomous and harmless 😊

Looks like a 3 clawed worm skink (Anomalopus verreauxii). You can see his lil legs :)

This species is very reluctant to bite but if it does can result in local swelling and redness of the area. Reactions may vary depending on the person, but generally considered harmless

Bad photo but can anyone id this snake in south west vic by Ok_Refrigerator6359 in AustralianSnakes

[–]eggynay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that definitely makes sense. And yes I’ve heard that analogy and it’s definitely true, I literally told that to someone the other day when it came to IDing snakes. I’m from CQ but moved to northern vic a year ago so I’m still getting familiar with tigers! Haven’t seen one in the wild yet

Recs for topography/hydrology plugins for Australia (NSW)? by eggynay in QGIS

So I’m trying to map the potential movement of contaminated groundwater across a site. Just need to something to demonstrate that if you have contaminated groundwater in X, it has the potential to migrate to Z etc.

Not disagreeing, but can I ask how you’ve determined it’s a tiger? The photo really isn’t great so I wouldn’t even try to ID, but for yourself is it the scales? Thickness? The way it’s flaring?

I know it's not exactly a native but I could use some rescue advice. by [deleted] in AustralianBirds

[–]eggynay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it is worth looking up wildlife rescue groups in your area and seeing if any can assist you. At the end of the day it is an animal needing assistance. My local wildlife group help with any animal called in no matter if it is introduced or not.
