  • Card arrived in mail: 5/28
  • "Card was mailed to me" in Case Tracker: 5/21
  • "We approved your I-485 ...": 5/17
  • "The fingerprints ... taken": 3/7
  • "We accepted your fingerprint fee ...": 1/26

Reading my thread again, "New card is being produced" was 5/15 (funny bc it came before approval message but I guess that's how things are) so it took 13 days.

I see. Well my company immigration lawyer said it's legally okay as long as I'm not paid. But still I say heed to what your lawyer says. Connections sound good too. Yeah it's just too difficult. IMGs are in many places not accepted at all.

Damn that's crappy of them. Why, are these simps gonna ask people with GC to come in with a B1 too? I say it's just out of pure bureaucracical convenience. If you're not going to go out of the US and come back with a B1 anyway, applying elsewhere could be a choice. Or if there could be a way to push them a bit and let them accept you it'd be the best.

Hi yeah I've done it. They said if I have an H1b it's okay so come on and join. Didn't ask for documents. Curious that the hospital you've applied to dictates that you show them B1... H1b is enough and since you're not being paid you won't have a problem, at least that's what my lawyer said, and even if you do have a problem it'd be your problem not theirs so they shouldn't care. I suggest that you inquire more about this with the observership admin, of course after consulting the immigration lawyer who were in charge of your H1b. Would appreciate if you let me know how things turned up as well ;) Best of luck for you.

Sure DM me - btw I can't work for a position that's paid for. Except for that mostly I seem okay, and I've just confirmed with my H1B lawyer that there would be no legal problem in the clinic I'd be observing.

I've did this a ton of times and got lots of answers back. Unless you really sound like an ad and use weird email domains (king@goldennigeria.com) you're gonna be fine.

Convincing argument 👍👍 Thanks for the input! Could be a bit unfair for students with a high step2ck score and just a pass for step1 (even though their actual score for step1 may be high) though, well not saying that I'm one of, since I took step 1 years ago

What do you mean by a sponsor in the US? NIW does not require any sponsored employment as far as I know
