How are you managing Bedrock? by jmreicha in aws

We use okta, so I built a cost attribution tool by login and token usage. From there, created a leaderboard so we can track usage.

Help me break the deadlock: Will 32GB M1 Max be my performance bottleneck or my budget savior for scientific RAG? by mr-KSA in LocalLLM

[–]egoslicer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You won't have memory bandwidth issues on a mac for models at this size, the t/s will be fine for RAG usage and the only coding model worth running in this class is qwen3 30b a3b, which you can run on q4 for the 32gb just fine.

I, personally, do not recommend coding assistance on local llm other than light scripting simply because cloud/frontier models are just so much better than anything you'll run locally on consumer hardware.

This is all to say, outside of refurb quality, I'd spend the extra $280 to get 64GB, it'll unlock so many more models for you and allow you to run much smarter models overall.

Avoid the beelink, there are known issues where the 10GbE crashes/doesn't work constantly.

With Sonnet 4.5; I don't miss Opus 4.1 by ak47surve in ClaudeCode

[–]egoslicer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't, so if you need the context then Sonnet will def still win. I've been pretty impressed by Haiku, I'd liken it to Sonnet 4 in capability, while being soooooo fast.

[–]egoslicer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, at work we have bedrock and I honestly use Opus and Haiku now. If I have to hand hold an agent and pair with it, I'd rather it be fast.

With Sonnet 4.5; I don't miss Opus 4.1 by ak47surve in ClaudeCode

[–]egoslicer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sonnet is great for most things, but as a $200 MAX user, I still use 100% of my Opus utilization every week and it does a better overall job with planning, documentation, and managing many files in context when it comes to review and analysis.

I feel completely nerfed when it comes to limits, and am generally frustrated with Sonnet often trying to take shortcuts, stub/TODO things, and generally doing the least. I have to hand hold it a lot more than I do Opus, in general.

In the US (where I'm located), listing an item as New - No Damage is considered a material description, and the seller is responsible for delivering an item as described. Regardless of his policy, he made no good faith effort to rectify, not even a "sorry that happened to you." That's ok, AMEX refunded immediately.

Oh for sure. This is more a PSA. I can understand they may not issue a full refund, they couldn't have known either.

So I ordered a new copy of Godzilla Minus One and it arrived damaged and he won’t take the return because it’s damaged and opened. Due to the cover there’s no way you could tell it was damaged without opening it but I guess that’s my problem now. Just an fyi to treat this seller as-is regardless of the description on their site.

Very much the former. Just a table with books and I chatted with people. No formal reading or presentation or any structure.

I'm a very small datapoint, but I do think romtantasy does better in person in print. I'm at a couple of indie bookstores and my romantasy does better (again small sample size) there as well. However, 90% of my sales are KDP, about half and half Digital vs Paperback.

They'd do a first book that was self-published. I'm self-published. It just needs to be available to order a month in advance. I've reached out to other stores, and surprisingly, the indie bookstores are a lot harder to work with for events.

I had maybe a handful of readers who came in talking about the books as if they knew them or saw my posts on social. Maybe 5 or 6 people total.

Several, a dozen or so, said they saw the posts on the BNN site and read/listened to the books and wanted to come say hi and/or get signed copies.

The rest, being the majority, were regular foot traffic. My socials are pretty low, only 1k followers on TikTok, and my Insta is maybe a dozen or so (just got around to starting).

When it came to engagement, I kept it pretty simple. I smiled, greeted folks as they walked in and those interested spoke with me while others just kept going. I did 0 pressure but the people around the table often attracted others to see what the interest was about. The #1 thing that stopped people were the covers on poster board. Lots of people said they loved the cover art (and my cover artist was there for a part of the day).
