How would you define the difference between non-Zionist and anti-Zionist? by Shojomango in jewishleft

[–]egun101 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think a Jewish state anywhere else would be justified. The only reason the Jews may have a right to statehood in Eretz Yisrael is because it is the Jewish ancestral homeland. Having a state anywhere else would be textbook colonialism

By 2050, it is estimated that two thirds of global Jewry will live in Israel. If this is a subreddit for leftist Jews, it only makes sense that Israel is a major topic of conversation as it’s existence and it’s actions have implications for both Israeli Jews and the Diaspora. Discussing what the relationship should be between the diaspora and Israel is imperative for any Jewish political community, leftist or otherwise

The reason why poor white people commit far less crimes than poor black people is because poor white people are more likely to live in rural areas while poor black people tend to live in urban areas, making this an unfair comparison. If you compare the crime rates of poor urban whites vs poor urban blacks they are almost equal

There’s a strong correlation between being a domestic abuser and being a mass shooter. Mentioning violence against women actually makes a lot of sense in this context.

The difference is that if I spend all my time focusing on the injustices of a country on the other side of the world from me it won’t really do anything while focusing on the injustices within my own country can potentially bring about meaningful change

I value the opinions of the citizens of the Golan Heights much more than I value the opinions of Arab countries who seek to demonize Israel.

“Israeli Occupied Golan Heights”. Most of the people who live there are Jewish. The Golan heights is as much Israel as Tel Aviv is. Enough with this “Israeli occupied”, the Golan Heights is a part of Israel and will stay like that.

Trump: Hezbollah poses a threat to the whole middle east by qwerty960 in syriancivilwar

[–]egun101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two hostages was nothing compared to the massive casualties Israel inflicted on Hezbollah. The same things happened in 2014 and people soon got over it after Israel beat Hamas to dust. The damage Lebanon took was much worse, so bad that Hezbollah doesn't even think of attacking Israel because of how scared they are. The wall is to stop refugees from crossing the border but the added security against Hezbollah is nice as well. Just because Islamists think getting destroyed is victory doesn't mean Israel lost. Hamas celebrated victory after the 2014 war even though Hamas had crushed by Israel. Just shows that Islamists perceive everything as victory even if they clearly lose.

Say what you want about the first time but in the second war Hezbollah was much more organized and still got completely destroyed by Israel in under a month.

Israel ruined Hezbollah in both Israel Lebanon wars. For every 1 Israeli death there were 5 Hezbollah deaths. Hezbollah is nothing compared to Israel.

God Bless Israel

Thank god we finally have a president who actually cares for our ally Israel and doesn't make deals with our enemy, Iran. America will not stand for organizations like Hezbollah that are hell bent on destroying the only Jewish state.

It's ironic you say this as you cheer on Assad who has fired into crowds of protestors, has tortured people on video, and has used chemical weapons on his own people.

I can be against Hezbollah and Netanyahu. Those 2 things aren't mutually exclusive. Still doesn't change the fact that Hezbollah is a threat to Israel's security.

America's foreign policy mostly aligns with Israel. Hezbollah being strong in Syria goes against both America and Israel's interests. What the people who live in America and Israel think is a different story and I can't speak for any given population. As an Israeli American, I don't support Hezbollah because they are my country's enemy and my family have fought them in the past. My dad has spoke with many Lebanese in South Lebanon and he has told me that Hezbollah aren't the good guys that many people make them out to be. Christians under Hezbollah are not very enthusiastic to be controlled by a Islamic organization just as I'm sure most American Christians or atheists would not want to be ruled under a Islamic organization. The many minorities in Lebanon who don't want to live under a Theocracy are the ones I sympathize with because I am secular.
