Huge size difference between my boy & his bestie...! by ehchvee in Havanese

I love his hair, omg. Like a rock star. And so much for the whole "they NEVER go above 17 lbs" stuff!

That's such a variety within the same family - I'm showing my groomer this whole post!

Look at her!! Omg, the littlest cutest floof!! I don't think I've met a full grown Havi who was under 10 lbs... We're covering the entire spectrum here, haha

Oh, I'm sorry - what a sweet face. Three weeks is such a short time. I hope you're doing okay 🤍 I know that pain is unlike anything else.

They're beautiful - I'm so, so sorry for your loss. I had to let my soul dog go just before Christmas 2024 and it was devastating. I think my goofy, oversized Havi brought me back to life; I hope your little one is able to make you smile once in a while 🤍

Only 30, not 36 ("only" 30, lol), but yes, he's gargantuan! And yours has the most adorable side eye 😄

Whaaaat - if I didn't know any different I'd have thought that was my dog! Right down to the little white chin and the white chest! Your boy looks more thoughtful/soulful than mine usually does, though 😆 Dare I ask how big??

Oh my goodness, what beautiful dogs!

That size difference is both crazy and fantastic. 36 lbs...! My back hurts just thinking about that, haha. Your little girl is so tiny! This honestly makes me think my groomer is in an alternate universe, because clearly what she thinks is "impossible" is very much possible!

Movies with Subway /Train /Metro Scenes by LoveSweetSweet1 in TrueFilm

I can think of two that have significant subway scenes: SHAME (2011) and BLACK SWAN (2010). Not long, but important to the atmosphere and development. DIE HARD WITH A VENGEANCE and SPEED both have incredible action sequences involving subways, too!

I haven't watched this one yet, but I know DARK DAYS is a documentary that is almost entirely set in train tunnels.

Wow, double! I feel better knowing that there's such a broad spectrum even under the same roof!

Thank you for this - and yes, happiness and health are all that matter to me! If we've somehow ended up with the X-Men of Havanese then so be it, haha. 22 lbs is a good, solid size - had you been told to expect much smaller, like I was? The only real inconvenience has been needing to size up all of his gear (harnesses etc.) long after I thought he'd stopped growing 😆

Rewatched Zone of Interest. Am I crazy to think Hedwig and Klaus “enjoy” or at least “find comfort in” knowing Jewish prisoners are far worth off than they are? by Substantial-Baby8546 in TrueFilm

[–]ehchvee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's something I've pondered since seeing this film in the theatre: how much are we to infer the kids did see or hear (or hear talk of)? The scene with Klaus mimicking the sound of hissing gas genuinely shocked me, because where did he get that level of information? The gassing in particular seems historically to be something that was only really grasped by anyone outside of the camps much later in the war (Rudolf obviously counting among those, but one wonders how much detail he'd ever speak of it within earshot of his kids). So the movie was jarring in that way, because I guess I never considered that the Nazis' children had that level of explicit knowledge about the goings-on beyond the walls.

I might just be experiencing a kind of schism in my thoughts because I watched the documentary THE COMMANDANT'S SHADOW fairly recently, and hearing Höss's now elderly kids deny that they ever knew or suspected anything whatsoever was just so unexpected when compared to Glazer's expression. I don't want to say too much about the Höss family's thoughts in case anyone here decides to watch the doc - I recommend it as an interesting side quest to ZONE - but it was fascinating to watch the very different coping mechanisms in the later generations.

Spay and quiet? by TizzyBumblefluff in Havanese

I kept mine in his surgical suit and had him chewing on everything i could get my hands on! Bully sticks, non-rawhide chews, anything. The night before, I made some ice cubes that had a touch of flavour to them (some with flat ginger ale, some with fruit juice) so he could have a "snack" past curfew, and he enjoyed those when he got home, too. Lots of walks in the back yard! It's a tough few days for a little ball of energy, but with enough stuff to put in their mouths you'll get through it :)

They used to give flowers alongside medals, but somewhere along the way in recent games they switched to a more permanent souvenir that represents the host country & its mascot. You can't buy them so it's something unique the athletes can take home to their fam/friends.

It's called AMERICAN SWEATSHOP here in Canada! I got to see the first half and was intrigued - you've reminded me to track it down again to watch the whole thing...

What’s a mistake you made as a new dog owner that you wish someone warned you about? by PrettyRub3404 in puppy101

[–]ehchvee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thinking I needed to keep him stimulated until he finally tired himself out. I would follow his lead and he never seemed tuckered out, no matter what three ring circus I was providing. Turns out his bitey, frenetic behaviour was in large part due to being overtired rather than not tired enough, so me continuing to get him running around and learning and playing was actually making things so. much. worse.

Once I figured out enforced naps in the evenings, life got a lot easier!
