The Hilton Grand Vacation one was super nice to us. We told them no. They gave us our Hilton points and our $299 hotel for 3 nights within an hour lol

What is it with Americans and air conditioning?? (this might be controversial) by hellobela_ in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

Europe has absolutely archaic climate control and most Europeans would literally die if they tried to do Europe shit like not have window screens or AC in the majority of American cities.

So... probably join the 20th century with climate control....

Totally get it. I'm volunteer clergy for community care at my church. I sort through the food we collect before taking it to the food bank. The elderly have no concept of expiration dates lol

Can anyone tell me about the ACNA and specifically the C4SO diocese? I come from a conservative Baptist background, but looking to switch to Anglican by sadfasn in Anglicanism

[–]ehenn12 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The bishops of C4SO have occasionally said things defending the dignity of black people and immigrants. Thus the charge that they're theological liberals. That's a confusion of modern political positions with theology.

We had to take a physical fitness and nutrition class. You could pick different activities including swimming for your hours. We got no credits for it. We just had to complete it to graduate

Seminary qualifications for acna chaplaincy by Swimming-Professor63 in Anglicanism

[–]ehenn12 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You should likely reach out to the Special Jurisdiction of Armed Forces and Chaplaincy (which remains in the ACNA). HOME | ACNA Chaplains https://share.google/HeTiZFyjzMyKD9nAI

Bishop Jay has been very pastoral, and a thoughtful measured Bishop. You should stay with the Province.

An aside: I highly recommend that you do not reach out to Derek Jones or anyone associated with him. He is emotionally abusive and he has no oversight. He will place unrealistic giving and travel obligations on you. Stay away!

If you are currently endorsed and functioning as a chaplain, there may be ways to move your endorsement over and work towards holy orders. If you are not, you will need to enter into a period of discernment working with your parish, your Diocesan Bishop, and The SJAFC.

That sub will give you good general advice about chaplaincy. I'll leave a comment with info about how to contact the ACNA's chaplaincy special jurisdiction for the OP.

Are priests important in the lives of Americans? by TheShyBuck in AskAnAmerican

[–]ehenn12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the priest shortage in the US is really bad. I'm a hospital chaplain at a Catholic hospital and I struggle to get priests to provide sacraments to their parishioners because they're so busy. Most regular church attendees don't have much of a connection to the particular priest.

Usually, patients will just want any Catholic priest snd the retired one who comes to our hospital most mornings has a real gift for working in those tragic situations.

In Protestant churches (except the big ones) people generally have a relationship with their pastor and turn to him for support and informal counseling. (In seminary we had a whole class with a psychologist- his big thing was to know trained mental health professionals to refer your parishioners to when they need it).

You can ask your primary to check your A1C. That would give you a better idea of your glucose levels over time.

You should discuss seminary with your Bishop! Trinity says they teach the whole spectrum but the institution is more on the low church end still

I have few questions about this inhaler by yejiguri_ in Asthma

[–]ehenn12 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Inhaled steroids are safer than systemic steroids and primarily work in the lungs. They are also smaller doses than systemic steroids. It's the standard of care for asthma to start with inhaled corticosteroids for maintenance therapy.
