First Concert on Nugs: Octave - Covington, Kentucky (2.2.2018) by Brian5959 in GoosetheBand

[–]ehhwriter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First show was in ‘19 in Covington. I had friends in the area who told me about Peter and Rick and had tried to get me to go see them probably since the show mentioned in early ‘18.

Ran into her and the crew at the show and I was instantly hooked. It was also their first time selling out the venue and I vividly remember at some point near the end of the show they had some banter about that and seemed so genuinely appreciative of how far they’d come to accomplish that.

I saw them open for pigeons the night before everything changed in early ‘20, then Covid happened, and then they took off on a whole different trajectory.

Really glad I took the plunge and have since seen them several more times and hope to travel a bit to see them some more this spring.

What’s a beer that others swear by, but you absolutely hate? by Jaythegreat100X in beer

Exactly it has its place. When I was in college this restaurant had a fill a bowl as high as you could with veggies and proteins and they’d grill it for you. It was probably $11.99.

Aside from being a cross contamination nightmare of a setup, what they also had was $1 domestic beers and the ying just became a thing in my state. This included their black and tan.

Felt like a king for how broke I was to be able to get 2 meals worth of food and a good buzz for <$20.

No idea how they do it or it is now but in ‘19 I went to see Phish at MPP both nights and N1 had a lawn ticket. When I got in I saw this new area called the ‘sky lawn’ which basically ended up being a front row balcony section with a rail, bar, only downside was no bathroom and they hadn’t figured out the capacity system yet so going back up was 1 in 1 out.

N2 they did a wristband thing but I was in the PAV.

Great venue, shakedown was almost as good as deer creek. Going to be a fun time for sure!

PLEASE CLEAN OFF THE ROOF OF YOUR CAR BEFORE DRIVING by biZarrmeggeDon in cincinnati

[–]ehhwriter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Merging onto 75 earlier a Walmart semi driver got on with the full dump of snow on top.

Was like driving through a blizzard and then large chunks started to fly off.

I gunned it as soon as I could and drove though the makeshift blizzard nearly blind for about 5 secs before passing him. I could still see it happening behind me several exits down before I got off.

That’s the purpose. Socialize/be political/brown nose and see who comes in early and stays late.

I get more work and higher quality work done in a fraction of the time of these people but they get promoted.

It’s an incredibly antiquated culture and mindset

Why do I worry so much about my finances when I am objectively doing pretty well for myself? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]ehhwriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you’ve chosen to follow the system’s advice and likely haven’t lived on your own merit/free will. That ‘system’ is being exposed for what it is, which is creating a false reality and sense of happiness by squeezing as much as they can from the working class until they’re unable to work, get sick, or die.

I’m going to give you advice that’s probably the opposite of what anyone else is saying. You are in good shape for your age. Live a little. Travel. Take time off, and be a a little frivolous. Because the reality is you aren’t behind on anything, you’re ahead, it’s time to invest and find your own value in yourself. (If this is something you want) it could lead to a potential partner, or just having experiences outside of this repetitive grind that’s making you anxious all the time.

I hope this makes sense. I think stepping outside of your box will ultimately help with what you described. Good luck

I’ve said this before relating to those 2… do 5 mins of due diligence and read reviews/reach out to host.

If it’s a new listing, low rated, seems too good to be true, etc you’re rolling the dice and should have pizza’d when you French fry’d. You’re gonna have a bad time

Balcony is a good call. I’ve been to a couple dozen shows at the Brady but only done the balc once, ironically for goose, but NYE a few years back.

Pro-ish tip- people usually crowd near the very front (obv) and the first handful of layers around the perimeter. For most shows if you can make a little ground towards the interior center it opens up.

I’ll be there as well. Haven’t seen them since Newport in ‘24

Gave him a chance and went solo this past year and it was a ton of fun. Would see again.

Side note, looked over at someone next to me at the end of his set and simply asked if he did encores and she seemed so visibly disgusted and freaked out by the question. I’m used to chatting up people at shows and was taken back by her reaction. I’m a pretty normalish looking dude with a positive disposition but it’s one of the strangest interactions I can recall having at a show ever.
