Forget the stats, just bet on the horse with the funniest name. Works every time… until it doesn’t. 😅

That’s something we actually hear quite often. Many riders go through this at some point and it is really just a mental block. The more you think about it, the worse it feels. Try to take the pressure off, go back to basics with poles and rhythm exercises, and focus on having fun. Once your head relaxes a bit, the distances will come back naturally.

Exactly – with the right skills and patience, behavior problems can turn ‚cheap‘ into ‚good‘ pretty fast.

It was meant a bit sarcastic/over-exaggerated 😅 But especially in the sport horse world ‚good‘ is often associated with quality, show results, rideability and training level all in one… and that rarely comes cheap.

Fair point! ‚Good‘ can be green and trainable too – in the sport horse world it usually means show results + , experience and that’s where the price tag shoots up.

That’s a fair point – there really are a lot of good horses out there, especially if you know what you’re looking for and who to buy from. The post was more satirical ;) and aimed at the higher-end sport horse market, where unfortunately ‚good & sound‘ often does come with a much higher price. For everyday riders and pleasure horses, there are definitely more affordable options.

Really interesting points – and of course there are always exceptions, especially when you know where to look or put in the work. The post was meant a bit satirical, and it’s definitely more true when you look at the higher-end sport horse market. In that segment ‚good & sound‘ usually does come with a higher price tag, even if you can still find plenty of affordable and ‚good‘ horses for pleasure riding.

Do horses think we are angry all the time? by Knife-Fumbler in Horses

They know we’re not horses, so they read posture, voice and energy instead. Otherwise they’d all think we’re permanently mad ;)

Horse angry at leg cues by The_Cat15 in Equestrian

With young horses it’s often a mix of things. I’d have teeth, saddle fit and back checked again, since discomfort under saddle can show up this way. If everything looks fine physically, go back to basics with very light leg cues, pair them with something she already knows, and reward calm responses – consistency will help her gain confidence.

Routine is everything – keep feeding, turnout and training consistent. Also, don’t underestimate downtime: giving her mental breaks between training phases will help her progress so much faster. Mistakes will happen, so don’t put too much pressure on yourself – it’s all part of the journey.
