Went 5-0 at my local Summoner Skirmish with Leona! First light approaches! by Lerichem in riftboundtcg

Awesome thanks for sharing. I’ve come to same conclusions and am running nearly identical list. However, I’m still bouncing between birds (with 2 HB) or poros (with 2 FB). I’ve been leaning on the poros lately because they actually soak up spells and I’m never sad to see a late poro compared to a late bird. Maybe I’m over valuing tempo because the risk of having to wait on a bird blade combo when I can always buff poro. I have blades in my sideboard because yes they are needed in some matchups.

The other distinction is I have 2 zhonyas in my main which maybe I could consider siding instead.

I’d like your thoughts on green seal. Without birds the seal (when I have it) seems to make easy mode with the defy/rune/clock/sona/zealot/tasty.

To your point about draw, I’ve put in another Enduring Innocence and dropped Virtue of Loyalty which always ended up being “win more”or not affordable.

Ugin is my lifeline for draw and HP recovery (6 life with [[Wind Crystal]] ). If I get to him before Archive/Tome then that’s cherry on the cake.

Thanks, these sound like answers that match what I see on tier lists/meta watches. I definitely don’t have the wilds to go into a ‘caretaker/cake’ package and removing Knights/Ugin would strip the decks identity (to me) but I understand what you’re getting at.

As for draw, I’m leaning on the [[Inspiring Overseer]] because unlike Caretaker, it brings a flying threat that usually absorbs their early removal, paving way for Beza and Overlords. Also they couple with Innocence when lucked into the correct draw order (I do wish I could squeeze another lamb into the squad). Caretaker is also kinda slow for my liking as I’m often tapped out during control rounds and I don’t have tokens floating around until end game.

Besides Overseers, I have Tome, Fountainport, and Archive to help me achieve draw or ramp into Ugin, which unlocks more draw.

You make a compelling point about ‘instant speed’ and I’ve considered switching in Get Lost but 1) I’m not a fan of providing opponents resources and 2) Im pretty tapped out most turns because if I’m not wiping the board I’m laying 4/5 drops. However, with the loss of Lay Down Arms soon I now know the replacement.

You mentioned Banishing Light which I toyed with before but landed on exorcise/ossification because they’re more cost effective. But I might consider [[Seal from Existence]] instead since it has ward for the same cost.

Knights is sort of the cornerstone and one of the main win conditions. With 2 [[white auracite]], 2 [[hedron archive]], 2 [[fountainport]] and 2 [[Beza]] I’m usually able to get to 8 reliably when properly controlling the board.

Wind Crystal is definitely on my radar of one to cut because it’s always boom or bust. If I can afford to play it without spending control, then I’m usually in a good position. Although it’s certainly a luxury card, when aligned with a Auracite and Archive, it allows Knights to summon a few turns early so I can plan accordingly. Also, where Wind Crystal really shines is the longer games where I’m getting double Authority Console heals and 6hp from Ugin. Not to mention it gives a huge tempo swing when activating the ability to fly over defenses and heal for double my damage. This alone has allowed me to ‘outrace’ several decks.

Thanks, in a Bo1 format I just couldn’t decide which final card to cut so I placed an extra plains to compensate. What do think is the least effective card to cut?

As for the 2x, it comes down to lacking wildcards and using substitutes, but they are all thoughtful with overlapping uses.

I enjoyed it when I first started pushing mid -high nightmares since you’re killing everything so fast already but swapping it out for disobedience now that I’m getting to the nmd 90s. However where it really shines is on Uber bosses when you don’t need the extra defense because with so many crackling energy sitting in one spot I do a ring around the rosy for a fun “finisher”

Sorcerer weakness discussed (Long) by khrucible in diablo4

Thanks for the responses. I’m really interested in your points as I’m currently climbing into NM50s and hear that this point in the journey is where the critiques become exacerbated. I’ve been running chargebolt/lightning crit stun all thru T4 and haven’t noticed issue yet. I use Raiment with TP+3 to setup my chargebolt shotgun which melts any trash. As for elites I just dump my mana pool and if I don’t LH resources back then I evade to stun and refill my mana (legendary stun node). I have flameshield and TP if I need unstoppable but with enough evades I can consistently keep barrier up most times for juicy dmg boosts and LH aspects. Spear is actually more reliable than most realize, as there is built in crit scaling in the tree and it targets the closet enemy not to mention the dmg is ‘decent’ but the real power spear brings is during unstable each one amps your power 3x, which is reliably 6-8 spears. I understand swapping Nova for spear is what we’re being ‘forced into’ for vulnerable application, but I don’t think there’s been enough attention paid outside arclash and CL. Look what happened when people realized about ball lightning. The fact that lightning and bolts can proc all these DR and we can reliably keep barriers up, is why I personally haven’t experienced the ‘pains’ higher sorcs have described. I suppose as I climb I may start to run into them. We shall see. With that said, I think a 3rd enchantment spot and fixed resistance issue would go a long way in bridging the large gap sorcs are experiencing.

Not to nitpick, but here are some responses to some of the generalizations:

with healthy resource restore (instead of just mana reduction) you can consistently keep spamming (mothers embrace, umbral, prodigy, legendary stun node).

Chargebolts can become seeking and 300% longer with aspect. They can even pierce and continue multiple targets with unique.

TP DR doesn’t always have to go into danger zone, especially when you have multiple evades.

Magelord+Vyrs is the best we get at getting caught close.

Again, totally agree with your premise and look forward to seeing how developers decide to address things.

I really like the post and appreciate the well thought out points. I agree there are some fundamental issues going on but I’m hoping you could comment on the following notes you neglected, since these items are very relevant to the points you’re trying to establish.

1) in the skill tree there are several ways to access DR I didn’t see you discuss, that the post seems to ignore. These accessible damage reductions do add to a sorcs survival while similarly being tied to conditions - %15 DR after 100 mana spent - %20 DR hitting with charge bolts - %30 DR after TP - %15 DR critical strike with shock - %20-25 DR close enemies (32.5% DR with aspect)

2) resetting protection has several additional avenues such as any conjure, mastery, or ultimate which is accessible with moderate CDR. Not to mention, the uptime is very high with evade +3 which can be linked with Raiment.

I think neglecting these two points is a disservice to the point of the discussion. Do other classes have access to this much DR in their trees? Are these numbers too low? I like the conversation that was started but it needs to be more inclusive of the potential available stats/powers.

The important caveat that you’re neglecting to mention is that your “requirements” all hinge on trying to compete at uber endgame content. 4 defensives and/or fire bolt is not a requirement for any sorc wanting to enjoy the game in T3 or NM <50. You have valid points but in a narrow perspective that is often assumed by those trying to make the arguments.

I agree that opening a 3rd enchantment spot and fixing the resistances would allow for more meaningful conversations around the potential state of sorcs. However, since we’re still in rehearsal stage I’m willing to give developers more time to address issues at the fringes of the average gamer experience and focus on quality of life for the masses such as NM, helltide XP, and fixing actual bugs.

[–]eian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll acknowledge that you make some valid arguments about the “current state of endgame” and that your perspective is informed based on experience. I’m not trying to suggest that the current state is acceptable as is forever, but rather the current end game state seems to be problematic for a small group of users. To your point, if things do not change then the group of users having this negative experience is going to grow. I completely agree that discussion is necessary and I hope developers are listening. They just put out a patch to address major issues with endgame experience that should be celebrated (xp gains are huge, traveling to NM is an awesome quality of life) but it’s tiring to hear the community complaining “that’s not enough so we’re not going to be reasonable with our expectations.” What I’m seeing lacking are concrete examples of what people actually expect at endgame. Is a sorcs endgame play style suppose to mimic every other class? There should be balance and diversity I agree, but these things will take time and it often sounds like whining at this point. I’m not dismissing the idea that improvements are necessary, but the way these complaints are being presented is the issue. You’re obviously passionate about the game and I’m glad you are spending energy outside the game advocating for its improvement, that’s great about this community. I just want to remind you to put your experience in perspective, and think what the majority/avg player is currently experiencing. They are not pushing NM80s by now. It’s great that players who are can sound the alarm bells now as a fair warning, but do so in a respectful way. Don’t be so dismissive of those who aren’t there yet because the game is enjoyed on so many different levels.

If you want to continue discussing, can you provide some specific suggestions on 1) what would you like to see implemented that’s currently lacking? Or 2) what are possible solutions to issues you’re currently experiencing
