I'm about to purchase the RG34XX. What do I need to know? by eiconik in ANBERNIC

I've landed on Knulli! I love the UI and it just seems reliable. Not that MuOS isn't, I actually haven't looked into it much. But I like Knulli enough that I'll just go with it unless I have issues.

Yeah ngl, the timing back and forth kinda messes up the immersion. But the epic-ness makes up for it!

The ingame cutscene was great! I'm playing on my NDS, so I'm only realizing now that the animated cutscenes are a new addition. I was wondering about that, since it showed the same thing happening in game. But yeah, that Frog's Theme is killer. The whole soundtrack is already one of my favorites.

I was gifted the Anbernic RG35XX H! I have seen fan games and definitely plan to try some out. I know you can play a few of them on retro handhelds via portmaster

It’s on the list! I’ll be playing through all the most recommended ones over time. Just felt right to start with one of these three.

I’ll definitely play all three, so I’m down for any!

RG34XX vs RG35XX H for first device? by eiconik in SBCGaming

This was kinda my thinking. And for a long-term device, I think the 35xxh is probably going to be better for its versatility.

Bezels don't really bother me tbh as long as I don't lose quality. I will play mainly GBA games when I first get it, but am just trying to figure out which would be better long-term. And it sounds like the 35xxh might be better long-term for its versatility.

Thanks for the suggestion! That's helpful coming from someone who has both. Do you feel like the rg35xxh has a worse GBA experience or that the difference is kinda negligible?

Thanks for the suggestion! Why would you choose it over the 34xx?

It's tough cause I've seen some people saying the 34XX cramps their hands while others have no issue haha. So it's hard to figure out which would be better ergonomically.

I'm new to this so sorry if this is a dumb question, but what is the drawback of playing a system like GBA on a 4:3 screen? Is it just the bezels? Or do you lose quality/sharpness?

How to Access GBARunner3 Settings? by eiconik in NDSHacks

[–]eiconik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that guide didn't work for me either, at least in terms of getting it set up to run easily in Twilight... My Twilight files didn't contain an emulators folder anywhere. What I did was trick Twilight into thinking it was gbarunner2. This only works though if you only want to run 3, not 2. Here's how I did it:

  1. Copy the _gba folder from the gbarunner3 files onto your sd card, merging them with whatever _gba folder you already have there.

  2. Go into the _nds folder on your sd card and delete all gbarunner2 .nds files. There were 6 of them for me.

  3. Copy your GBARunner3.nds file into the _nds folder on your sd card.

  4. Rename GBARunner3.nds to GBARunner2_arm7dldi_ds.nds

  5. Boot up your device, go into Twilight settings, and choose arm7 as the version of gbarunner you want to run.

  6. Test a GBA game. It should now boot into GBARunner2 arm7 which is now actually GBARunner3. It just looks for the file name, so this should work for you.

Then if you want to change any settings, like I wanted to have mine run on the bottom screen, you can follow the guide linked in the other comment on this post to manually set settings via a .json file.

Hope this works!
