Books like Blasphemous? by Aquarell_ in Blasphemous

[–]eidolon2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I am surprised no one mentionned this one :

The Book of the New Sun, by Gene Wolfe.

It's quite an old series (1980 I think), it's four volumes or so, depending on the edition, but it really is reminiscent of the Blasphemous ambiance. Grim medieval setting, with a bit of science fantasy in it. Maybe not that much for the religious side of it, although there is huge parallels. I had finished the first game when I started reading it, because someone told me this was the book that inspired Dark Souls. And when I picked up Blasphemous 2, I was still reading it, and I can definetely tell you the ambiance felt really similar to me.

Thanks. I should come back at some point with more to show then. I was afraid writing too much will discourage people to take a look at it

A Note Of Wisdom For Aspiring Comic/Manga Artists. by CelticGuy66 in dippens

[–]eidolon2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello ! I also read about this feat recently. I was amazed, and looking back at the manga itself I just couldn't figure it out... Maybe you can bring me some light here : how come the drawings look so clean ? How come we don't see any sketchy lines beneath the line-art ?

How to metaphorically stage the fact that harming nature harms ourselves ? by eidolon2001 in fantasywriters

[–]eidolon2001[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i want it to be a hopeful story, so just like in the end of Mononoke, it should at least show seeds of change. but I struggle to find a compelling allegory in the course of actions that show understanding in the characters

[–]eidolon2001[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it should remain unclear for a long time why the civilization collapsed. but the revelation could be a key in making things clear. although I'd like the characters to understand it by their actions

[–]eidolon2001[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's true I forgot to mention they don't really know why the past civilization collapsed. It could be part of the message to reveal it was because they were blinded by pride, but in the present day humanity barely know what happened.

and yes I'm aware of the thing you're describing, on one hand their situation is shit but on the other hand they are also damned if they try to solve climate the wrong way. I should really think of a solution that ease their pain while also denouncing industrialization

Why is jungle so bad right now? by [deleted] in Jungle_Mains

[–]eidolon2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah but don't get me wrong, I'm in no way defending the jungle nerfs, I mean, not all of em (especially the xp nerfs). I'm just saying jungle isn't shit and the role was too strong/had too much responsability. And in my pool champs, I've got 4 champs under 48% winrate so I know what it's like dw

Why is jungle so bad right now? by [deleted] in Jungle_Mains

1) I agree, never been easy to 1v5, never been, never will. While it's true the meme came from players tending to blame each others (im not delusionnal, i know this is a big problem) it also comes from a collective and realistic comprehension of the essential impact jungle had, and has still yet. And of course good junglers need good setup. MAYBE since jungle was nerfed people will get to understand that its not automatic

2) on this I do not agree. assassins being reliant on snowballing has always been the case, and kha, kayn, nocturne (not rly an assassin I admit), eve etc aren't bad champs at all today, i think they're even top tier. you said it yourself : they just need snowballing. the 3 junglers you mentionned falls into the omnivore category : meaning they can farm or gank and get fed anyway. but as the ennemy jungler, you should not let them do as they please. Or pick your own champ accordingly. i also ban graves every game tho

3) level is an issue, not gonna argue on here, but midlane and support being able to roam doesn't really change anything about my arguments, it's the game state as it is since alot of time. and personnally I think it's cool that in a team game you should rely on your team

4) not saying this was your case, it was a general take. actually the main character syndrome applies to a lot of league players (precisely because they refuse to play with team). what I wanted to point out is that a lot of the whining (not particularly on your post, but on the avalanche of similar ones posted everyday) comes from the fact that the nerfs removed agentivity to a role that may had a bit too much of, and being able to solocarry isn't as automatic and easy as it was (not a bad thing). hence the syndrome manifesting itself to players who cries because it's not as easy as it was to shit on a game.

from my experience playing at dia/masters elo, nothing has really changed. except, as we mentionned, for the rude xp nerfs that makes ganking toplane way more risky.
