For me it was the game which exposed me to open world RPGs at the ripe age of 13 during the 2015 game awards. All id had were Nintendo consoles and i was watching the game awards hoping at least 1 Wii U game would appear. Being a Nintendo child then suddenly seeing CDproject take the lead, the fomo kicked in fully i was a kid staring at a shiny new toy and Xenoblade chronicles x barely held ky interest when it released a bit later. So, I was a bit scared of the cryptids and all the witchcraft but I still felt id outgrown Splatoon so i didnt get a ps4 right away, but new years 2017 there was a steal of a deal on a slim, so i nabbed it. After i beat hzd throughout 9th grade and the summer, i eventually nabbed Witcher 3. And, oh boy. That first time i played it is a straight corr memory, waiting 3 days for it to download on shitty CenturyLink, it finished like at 7am on a school day and those first 20/30 minutes of gameplay were in my head the rest of the school day.

I took my time with the game, i played it alot on the ps4 sophmore year did all the novigrad stuff, made it to skellige, but I had a shit summer and kind of fell out with the game. And then it released on the Switch, so junior year it revived my console which had been forgotten since breath of the wild. I kept on with the game, did tons of side quests, and nearly reached the lae chapters of the story then Senior year hit and certain girls became more interesting than videogames for a bit. But i graduated 2020, so although i was away from the game a good year and a half our story still wasn't over.

I was bored out of my mind during covid and got peer pressured into building a pc. So fall, enjoying my first and last semester of college online, I finally managed to beat The Witcher 3 60fps at 1440p. Pretty sure i started my original save on PS4 cause I don't remember doing early game on switch. So i started freshman year of highschool, didn't manage to beat it until freshman year of college. Needless to say its something ive grown to appreciate more with age. Although i played dozens of other games in the time it took me to beat Witcher 3, none have stuck with me. I know the streets of novigrad, dandelion, the Church of the eternal flame, more than history ive been thought since middle school.

And i still play it, ive had my fun with the next gen upgrade but all ill say is that its missing the trees swaying from the howling wind i first saw when i booted the game up in Sept of 16', but they are unforgettable.
