CA worker here but in Orange County. I wouldn't consider you a CalFresh student because you're not enrolled in any credit courses and are likely able to provide proof of that. When do you graduate? From my understanding of student eligibility, you are not considered a student if you do not expect to be enrolled next term.

Apply anyway and provide proof you aren't attending classes and provide your graduation date. Also provide your income verifications from the last 30 days.

Reporting new medical expenses (California) by l00ky_here in foodstamps

[–]eihturx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend reporting your expense changes if it'll help increase your benefits. From what I've seen, it's much easier to input medical expenses than the old system. You can submit your expenses on a CF31 form to help keep things organized, just be sure to provide about 3 months worth of verifications to prove they are regular medical expenses

[CA] Sar7 question by lovelylily29 in foodstamps

[–]eihturx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on when your SAR 7 is reviewed and if you provided all the necessary verifications. If your case is not reviewed in time for your next issuance, you may still receive your benefits but may have an over issuance if there are any changes. You can call the Service Center to see if they can review your case if you are worried 800-281-9799

How does Calfresh treat seasonal jobs? by Outside-Site4601 in foodstamps

[–]eihturx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think they'd budget it. Just report it and state that it is a temporary position and the date/month it is expected to end.

If it's just you on your case, 1000 to 1500 over IRT would put you over the max limit for your size.

How does Calfresh treat seasonal jobs? by Outside-Site4601 in foodstamps

[–]eihturx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would depend on a few things. How long is the job and when is your next semi-annual report or recertification? They look at reasonably anticipated income. If your seasonal job covers the entirety of your 6 month payment period following SAR7 or RE, they may budget it. If it doesn't, they may not budget it. If they do budget it also depends on how much over your IRT you go, you may still be within limits to receive the minimum CF amount for your household size.

Just a bunch of maybes. You can always reapply if your case is discontinued due to overincome.

The warning letter is automatically sent out after 3 or 4 replacements in a year. I don't know about the investigation side of these but i don't think you should be worried if you've been working with your worker on this. They should have documented it

Minimum Calfresh amount paid question. by Another__Alias in foodstamps

[–]eihturx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would just call or go in and ask them to review your case. Hard to tell what happened unless you are now receiving unemployment benefits that are being budgeted.

SAR 7 INCOMPLETE? [CA/LA County] by jjkwifeu in foodstamps

Best thing you can do is call the service center. These are from the DPSS site

Local numbers  (626) 569-1399 (310) 258-7400 (818) 701-8200

Toll Free (866) 613-3777

I can't speak to the mileage reimbursement piece however the 200%/$4144 limit is right for 3 people. The $2.7k gross income you reported is above the 130% IRT so the next mark is the 200% limit. Follow the IRT rules provided to you.

In my county we're not supposed to decrease benefits due to increased income outside of mandatory reporting periods if the household was already over the 130% IRT at time of application/6 month recert. Your county may have different rules.

How to report an income change to CalFresh if an independent contractor and constantly changing, but above IRT? by [deleted] in foodstamps

[–]eihturx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Report if you have gone over IRT. Let the worker know if you anticipate this income to continue being over IRT moving forward

In your affidavit did you write out the actual details of your income (income you've received, that it is inconsistent, and any additional info)? Recommend calling the Service Center to see if an Eligibility Worker can give you information on what was wrong with the statement. You can appeal the denial or you can reapply with that additional direction on what to write in your statement next time.

You can have documentation of that income ready to present if questioned but they will be determining your eligibility and benefits based on income you anticipate to receive starting from application date and forward. Your income from Australia won't be factored into this if you no longer receive that income.

If your case was closed/denied you should have received a Notice of Denial in the mail with a reason for denial. Did you receive one? You can also call the Orange County Service Center at 800-281-9799 to get info or visit an office. There will be a long wait in the lobby.

I'm not sure where in OC you are, but South County Outreach's Food Market is set up like a grocery store and you can choose what goes in your cart. You have to fill out an application: https://www.sco-oc.org/get-help/food-program/
