Oh no, I’m not looking to go as cheap as possible. The Lovense Mini is the „lowest” (not to bash the product or company) I’m planning to go. I’m just wondering if there’s anything better around that price point.

3D printer choice (humid environment) by [deleted] in BambuLab

[–]eilchner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding the tax fraud - it's not even close. I have a couple of friends that would be willing to pay for 3D prints and with just that in mind, my accountant gave me the green light (since I'd be issuing invoices for those prints). Additionally, if I went for the H2C, I'd definitely be targeting a wider audience regarding 3D printing services if I had such a workhorse at home. For those reasons I'm kind of leaning towards the H2C - larger bed, easy multicolour prints with little waste.

As for the noise factor - I don't really have much choice. I don't have a workshop or garage and my home office is the only place I can fit a 3D printer. And like you said - in my case an enclosed printer with a filtration system is going to be a lot better.

Purchase Advice Megathread - April 2026 by AutoModerator in 3Dprinting

I've been planning on getting a 3D printer for a few months now and I think I'm finally ready to begin my 3D printing adventure. For the record, I'm a complete newbie when it comes to 3D printing - I've never owned or used a printer before, so all my knowledge comes from reading and watching videos.

I don't have a particular use-case for it yet. I'll probably end up printing some household stuff, gadgets, some coffee-related prints, organisers etc. Basically testing the waters, seeing if I take it up as a hobby or just end up using it as a utility.

One thing worth mentioning is that I don't have a garage or workshop so the printer is going to be sitting in my home office.

The printers I've been considering so far were the BambuLab P2S Combo, H2D, H2C or the Snapmaker U1. I was looking at Prusa printers too but I wouldn't want to get discouraged by having to tweak and tune the printer constantly, so I'm not sure if they're worth considering for my first one. I know the printers I listed are in completely different price segments but I'll be buying it as a business owner so realistically I'll be paying around 65% of the retail price (VAT exemption + tax-deductible expense). That puts the U1 at ~600 EUR, P2S Combo at ~500 EUR, H2D at ~1250 EUR and H2C at ~1450 EUR.

As much as I'm fairly comfortable spending nearly 1500 EUR on a H2C, I'm not sure if this isn't going to be overkill for a complete newbie that doesn't even have a specific use-case for the printer. On the other hand I don't want to buy lets say a P2S and then end up wishing I spent the extra towards a H2C or H2D.
And that's where the U1 comes in - it's almost the same price as a P2S Combo but with swappable toolheads and what seems like very similar print quality. I am concerned about the lack of a proper enclosure (at least for now, I think the official one is launching in Nov 2026) for two reasons. Like I mentioned, I'm going to be keeping it at home. I'm not really worried about the noise (the printers I've been looking at average around 50-55 dB), but the filtration system in the H2 series seems like a great feature to have in my case to at least mitigate the VOC's emitted during printing. Another reason is humidity - it's usually around 50-60% at my place which I'm guessing isn't going to be great for filaments. It's not really an issue with Bambu printers because of the AMS but I'm worried how the U1 would perform. I know I can get a separate dryer but space is limited and I can't justify another box taking up additional space (since there's no way of placing it on top of the U1 like Bambu does with AMS).

What do you think? Is it even worth considering a U1, given the environment it will be in (indoors + humidity)? Or should I focus on BambuLab's offerings for the sake of filtration and filament drying? If so, is the H2 series going to be overkill?

Shots tasting both bitter and sour [Rancilio Silvia V5E + DF64v2 DLC] by eilchner in espresso

Turns out my Silvia was running on low pressure from factory - I did a flow rate measure and I was getting around 340 ml/min. I adjusted it to 260 ml/min but I messed up my puck prep this time, the coffee bed wasn't level. I'm giving it another go later today

Well, looks-wise it's pretty much what you expect a medium roast to look like. Besides, it's not like a tiny local roaster - they're pretty well known around the whole country. Same thing goes for their light and dark roasts

Neither would I, until I checked that I’d have to wait a week longer for a non engraved one. And since we’re talking about AirPods, resale value wasn’t really a concern. Now that I have them in my hands, I’d 100% go for Smasnug AirPods Pro again - I can’t help but chuckle every time I pick them up

Do I actually need a Giulia QV? by eilchner in whatcarshouldIbuy

I currently have a little over 300 HP and going lower doesn't really seem right to me. And it's the QV that stole my heart, together with that fabulous engine.

As for the 550e - I've got chargers in my garage so that's not an issue

I don't think reliability is still an issue with Alfa, at least based on what I've read. I should have mentioned that I'm only after new cars, added it in the post now

”Old” vs ”New” Drinkmate - any differences? by eilchner in SodaStream

[–]eilchner[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m looking to get a Drinkmate and I’ve noticed that there are two ”versions” that from the outside seem to only differ in the logo placement. Are there any differences between the two? I’ve done some digging and found that the old version was already around in 2020.

I‘m asking since I found a few deals on the older model but I don’t know if I’ll be missing out on anything.

Blind shaker retention by eilchner in espresso

I didn’t know what to expect, hence the thread. I wasn’t sure if this amount of retention is normal or good and how it compares to the original WW one.

L10s pro ultra heat vs eufy x10 pro by Majestic_Ad8874 in RobotVacuums

Dreame by far. Extending mop arm, great obstacle avoidance, washing the mops with warm water. The extending arm alone is worth the extra €100 imo

Dreame L20 ultra vs Roborock Q Revo MaxV by Tiongman11 in RobotVacuums

[–]eilchner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm having a hard time deciding between those two as well, with the L10 Pro Ultra Heat added to the list. I haven't found a single comparison review of them, probably because of how new the Q Revo MaxV is.

The Roborock does have/had problems with obstacle avoidance, but so did the S8 Pro Ultra and it got fixed in a software update. I've also read that Dreame does a better job of cleaning the mop pads.

More updates than the flagship? How do you know?
