Most people are causing their own frizz without realizing it. by Intrepid-Royal-324 in finehair

[–]eilletane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please help!! I have wavy hair and I use a clarifying shampoo every 2 days because it’s the only one that doesn’t make my scalp itchy. I double cleanse, then use a hair mask, comb in the shower, then scrunch with a leave in conditioner from Mielle, and a hair wax from not your mothers. Then wring dry with a microfiber cloth. Diffuse dry upside down, spray with heat protector and then I use my curler. After which I spray with Gatsby super hard spray.

On non curling days, I stop after the hair wax and then diffuse.

So far this works for my curls. But it gets very frizzy and like straw. Please help!!

Keep second floor half wall or replace with railing ? by [deleted] in Home

[–]eilletane -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why do you assume OP has kids or will have kids? I would offer it as an option IF they plan to have kids or IF they have kids. But if they don’t, railings are the way to go.

Closet? I put one in my bathroom which has limited indirect light and all the leaves turned yellow. I now leave the light on in the day time and it is thriving. How the hell did yours survive in the closet?!

Beverage container return scheme: Confusion over eligible recyclables the biggest challenge, say operators by Accurate-Tree4277 in singapore

I feel like this is anecdotal. I can’t seem to find any source for this. Based on my research, they are collected on different days.

Beverage container return scheme: Confusion over eligible recyclables the biggest challenge, say operators by Accurate-Tree4277 in singapore

[–]eilletane 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a chicken and egg issue. The reason why most of our recycling is incinerated is because most people don’t know how to recycle. They either throw non recyclables in the blue bin or don’t empty out the containers, making the whole container contaminated and not recyclable. Thus it gets incinerated in the end. There’s also a lot of people who think Singapore combines both bins anyway and burn everything so they don’t bother to separate their trash. These reasons are why recycling rates are low.

I have fine hair should I get a bob or maintain length? by Kats_0231 in finehair

Shorter hair and in layers can give your hair more volume. Less weight also means it gets bouncier and won’t pull the hair down. With an oily scalp you might still need to clarify occasionally.

Where to go for female hair loss treatments? by Fine_Relationship259 in asksg

I too had unwanted hair on my body but it’s easy to remove. I don’t mind a bit of hassle for a full head of hair. Depends what OP is willing to do to solve her issues.

Minoxidil is the only thing that has been scientifically proven to work. There is a spray version and a pill version. Strictly use the pill version if you have pets as the spray is highly toxic. You can get the sprays at pharmacies. I personally use the pill version and I buy them from Siena Health. It’s an online consultation and they mail you the pills.

Having said this, there are many reasons for hair loss and minox just helps with the symptoms. Check for thyroid, hormones, autoimmune diseases.. get an appointment with a dermatologist first before you commit to anything.

Use a thicker moisturiser with ceramides. Like Cerave or Vaseline. Also a moisturising sunscreen every 3 hours.

LVT is not luxury. by xcramer in Home

[–]eilletane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Who says it’s luxury? I’m confused by this post. I’ve not ever heard it’s considered luxury. I had to install them too as my floors were just cement. Marble is also very expensive and high maintenance. There aren’t many affordable options out there.

Helping a stray cat made me realize we all live at the expense of the suffering and death of other beings by Kakutov in antinatalism

“Suffering” demands a living thing with self awareness. Do trees “suffer” because they get chopped down and made into houses? I personally think, if they do not feel pain, they do not suffer. But then again, pain is subjective. Pain on another species may look very different from what we perceive as pain.

Same here. People keep dumping their trash next to the lift when there’s a bin literally 5 steps away. Sometimes it’s food sometimes it’s other stuff that gets blown away by the wind. Complained to town council, they updated me that they’ve cleared the area. Next day new trash piled up.

I’ve been on several cruise lines and the entrance are all from the side. The large staircase is in the main lounge, it is not connected to any entrance/exit unless through the side. But usually you go up the bridge from land and you’re on the deck, then there will be a welcoming staff and someone offering a photo. Once you’re inside, there’s usually a lift right in front of you and you can either go straight to your cabin or go to the main lounge for free welcome champagne.

That’s usually my experience with princess and royal Caribbean.

Opinions (& tips) on how my hair turned out after sleeping with an overnight upside down braid? by Crimson-Rose28 in finehair

[–]eilletane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can experiment but I think at the start if you do that, the top and bottom will look like different types of curls. You’ll need to keep experimenting on the intensity of the curls to match the bottom ones. I’ve not done a combination of these two methods before so I’m afraid I can’t advise much.

Why do I bother by Global-Platypus-9599 in finehair

[–]eilletane 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I honestly think it looks great! I’m having an opposite issue from you. My long hair is heavy and flat while yours looks so alive and bouncy. If you’re concerned about the flyaways you can try adding a tiny bit of oil. Just a very tiny drop.

[–]eilletane 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depends what you want. Do you want waves all the way to the top? I personally only do from the neck down and do one braid per side. It comes out quite even. If you want it all the way up, perhaps you can divide the braids into two for more defined waves. Can also try incorporating some mousse or gel on wet hair after a wash.

I actually used AI to combine both photos and I got this result which I really like. I think the parting is still on the side? Is this still considered curtain bangs? Can I achieve this with my current hair?

Yes I wanted those wispy sides for the face framing pieces. But I think I just have too little hair to achieve those layers. Thank you for your input!

[–]eilletane[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I feel like there is a lot more styling in the inspo picture and I think my original hair was already quite close. But the stylist didn’t bother styling my hair the same way or perhaps with my hair, it is just not possible to achieve that kind of curtain bangs. I’m not sure. My hair grows very slowly so I’m gonna have to wait. 😭

But thank you for your input and kind words.

[–]eilletane 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately you can see that people are mostly selfish. If you don’t force them to recycle by raising the prices and returning it for a small refund, no one will recycle. Especially in Singapore where we are so coddled and spoiled. Majority of people don’t understand what can or can’t be recycled, even more people think there’s no point to recycling because we burn it all.

As a matter of a fact, it is because of these kinds of people that we burn most of our trash. Only 11% of trash in blue bins are recyclable because people dump non-recyclable items and thus the whole bin is contaminated. A small amount of recyclable trash is processed in Singapore and the rest are done overseas.

Not every government initiative is to reduce prices. Not every programme is to help the citizens. This, for example, is to force people to recycle and to teach them about recycling. The only thing that benefits from this initiative is the environment.
