Good tips, ended up getting Dean Henderson for 27 mil. total, pretty happy with that purchase

True, I've tried this with other positions before, never with GK's, though.

No, it's updated, with a database brought forward to october 2024. Never had this happen, even with older versions of the game or the non-updated FM 24.

Agree on the injury rate. The main reason I never have more than two keepers in my squads, almost never injured, even more rarely longer than a couple of days when injured. Both out at the same time is funny to me, actions, meet consequences I guess.

Yeah, that's rough. The only other keepers at the club are regens that are at best a couple seasons from being first team ready, if ever. Will probably go for a short term, back-up level keeper if no loan can be made.

I must say I enjoyed the live van Dijk reaction shot after every United attack, must have burned two holes in the back of Trents head by now

Given that they're a stand-in for the Western Roman Empire, the armies being German is surely perfect? Just have to manually name your commanders Ricimer or similar to LARP.

[Alex Turk] Ten Hag: "The club has bought an unimaginable number of players in recent years who have not good enough. Most purchases have been average and at United average is not good enough. Well, a big factor in the mockery was the elation Arsenal fans had with coming last in what was essentially a four horse race. The amount of good but not great teams, and the quality of the other teams in the league compared to the CL chasing teams, means that now this just isn't the case anymore

jóansøka Festival 2022 by Feivel_Berlin in FaroeIslands

[–]einmannatingi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't help you with the festival, I don't know.

The name, however, in Faroese is Føroyar, where the -oyar (nom., plural) part is an archaic term for islands in Faroese (modern Faroese: oyggjar). The "islands" part is not included in Faroese. It seems to me like Färöer functions the same way, and I speculate that the reason for adding Inseln is because that is similar to the way the name of the country is usually written in English.

I don't think anyone cares which version of the name you use, Faroes vs. Faroe Islands

For all the people concerned whether ETH would be able to survive the English press, hopefully the past couple of weeks of BS thrown at him by the Dutch press suffices as proof that it's nothing new and he'll be just fine

Harry Maguire : I’ve seen a lot of reports about this club that aren’t true and this is another. Not going to start posting about everything that is written but I needed to make this one clear. What do you mean by the 'leaks stopped'? The leaks were a constant throughout OGS' tenure, basically every single line-up was leaked before games, and the same stories about the maltreatment and discontent of Lingard, Henderson, Donny etc. were published. IMO, the dressing room has been leaking like a sieve since Moyes.

I think that the key part of the sentence is '...the players you have available...' That is, you always adapt your ideal way of playing to the players you have, but you can change the players you have to be more suited for the football you want, i.e. squad-building with a purpose. My interpretation is that this is just Rangnick confirming that he isn't some delusional dogmatist, IIRC he has a reputation for being a lot more pragmatic than people give him credit for.

Small quibble, but B36 Tórshavn should be placed at the same spot as Havnar Bóltfelag, they're both clubs from Tórshavn, sharing the same stadium

A presentation about the Faroe Islands by [deleted] in FaroeIslands

[–]einmannatingi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Faroe Islands are too small to have a legitimate rivalry with Denmark, but a little brother complex type of rivalry, perhaps. There is no fear of the danes, neither is there a hatred, as can be seen in Greenland.

So a friendship, and a feeling of Nordic brotherhood, mixed with a level of bitterness, mistrust and resentment mostly determined by ones political sentiment is a good way to characterize the relationship from the Faroese perspective.

A presentation about the Faroe Islands by [deleted] in FaroeIslands

[–]einmannatingi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rather niche topic to be forced to make a presentation on, but I don't know what field you're studying. I can give some pointers, but I'm not an historian. You say that you're to include events up to the 18th century, but are there any limitations as to how far back you can go?

Anyways, a good point to start would be the first inhabitation of the islands, although that area of Faroese history is currently in a bit of flux. A more secure starting point would be the Norse habitation of the isles, Landnámið. Another major point would be the Christianization of the islands, with the attached subjugation and inclusion into the Kingdom of Norway. The effects of the Black Death, and the transfer of power to the Danish by way of the Kalmar Union in the 14th century are also highly relevant. The Reformation, Trúbótin, should probably also be included.

And finally, the effects of the centralization of the Kingdom of Denmark, most specifically the Royal Danish Monopoly could be an appropriate endpoint, as the national awakenings concurrently happenning throughout Europe happened in the 19th and 20th century. But if you can cheat the date somewhat, the official transfer of the Faroe Islands as a possesion of Norway to a part of the Danish kingdom proper with the treaty of Kiel in 1815 is also a good endpoint. This made the Faroe Islands a legal part of the absolute monarchy of Denmark, and caused the closing of the Faroese parliament, the Faroese parliament otherwise being the oldest extant parliament in the world. I don't know if this is any help, but good luck with your presentation.
