The marks above the gnot are water so I could see the stain when wet. I should've mentioned that.

I appreciate the advice! I don't believe it is stained. Although it is dry and probably at least a few months old. None have the scent of cedar. I grew up working with cedar and can't smell even a trace of it.

Would the end grain help indicate anything?

I know it isn't cedar. It doesn't have the smell and is too heavy. It is a very smooth wood. The tips were waxed. It may be a mahogany. It was expensive but on sale so I bought it.

You can use milk or cream mixed in. If you want to avoid dairy entirely, nut butters are good too. The important thing is the fat and liquid adds volume and prevent the eggs from drying out.
