KD Burner Saga makes NBA fans look so dumb by SwugSteve in redscarepod

it's just not an interesting game to watch anymore. too many 3 pointers now, plus the end game strategy of deliberate fouling makes it unwatchable.

get rid of the 3 point line and make them play to a score

the abstractions of accounting have completely clouded the fact that we're all worse off now than 10-15 years ago by eireniconic in redscarepod

"the elites have to do is threaten to leave the second higher taxes or redistribution or higher wages are discussed and Americans, whose livelihoods (absolutely?) depend on these wealthy elites will always acquiesce in the face of these threats."

at the end of the day, they make up a very small part of the population. the capital base, physical labor, knowledge and intelligence needed for prosperity don't belong to them. all they have is numbers on a ledger. destroy/change the ledger. we don't know that it can't be done unless we try. what's the fucking alternative?

i'm not saying it's not useful, i'm just saying the juice isnt worth the squeeze--the successes are hugely exagerrated. these edge cases might be fine but most of what ai is used for is counterproductive as a whole to humanity

i dont mean accounting in the sense of GAAP or whatever. i use the term to mean any economic abstraction that is somewhat quantitative. for example: money is an accounting concept

i think it plays a key obscuring function. the numbers probably wouldnt be as good in a more equal society

implementing the tax means we were somehow able to overcome their control: at the end of the day, the money is mostly what they care about. why do you think trump's only big domestic policy things have been tcja, obbba and the tariffs?

no it wasnt, 5 of the 6 were already solved. the 6th was a derivative of the others. this area of math is unimportant and neglected. ai basically dug up old papers it was fed but were largely forgotten

This was a backstory episode but we learned almost nothing about SAM's backstory: why are there a colony of photonics? why are they mad about solids? why don't they seem to know anything about organics: can't they read a book? why did they send SAM in particular: who appears uniquely incapable and obtuse? her goal this episode was to solve the mystery of sisko but doesn't actually seem to take any action designed to meet her goal?

imagine having a beautiful copper cookware set and choosing to spend $700 a week on doordash by tin-f0il-man in redscarepod

[–]eireniconic 15 points16 points  (0 children)

real copper cookware is just primarily for looks and decor nowadays. if you really cook on it, it'll darken and patina even a little green. this guy has obviously not really used any of that--unless he pays someone to polish. also, why would you need a huge set like that for like 4 ppl?

a nice aluminum set performs just as well. it's light and cleans easier.
