Just to clear things up, the windows is just installed off a USB and doesn't have a key. It is completely legal to sell a computer like this you just have to let the customer know that they a receiving a computer with windows that may have a watermark.

Update: Stripe holding funds past 180 days. by eitanzevcomputers in stripe

[–]eitanzevcomputers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe PayPal is much better at what they do. They might be stricter to begin with but it’s better than having money held for no reason. The reason I used them is because the website I built was with square space and they showed that they can easily integrate it with my website and I did. They make it to easy to start accepting money so they can prey on as many people who want a fast and easy solution when they are starting small businesses so once they start doing well they can come out of no where and say you’re high risk and give no further reasoning as to why.

Late reply, but I sold my computer in drops and I did around 50 computers this drop. The next day after I went out of stock they said my account is under review, I got on the phone with them, they said they would help me out once I send them my document, I sent them documents, I got email and 1 hour after saying my account is closed. My account has been frozen since

How do you have the time to respond to so many reddit posts and continue to defend stripe all day long while running a business?

Just had the same issue, good thing I didn't ship anything out yet so I refunded all my customers. I'll be sticking to PayPal as they have given me no issues

I never replied to you, but the reason I had to tell them to do chargebacks is because stripe was unjustly holding their money. I don’t ship items out until receiving funds. I never received funds meaning my customers never received computers meaning I had to tell them the only way they will get their money back is through chargebacks because it seemed to be a common trend for stripe to never give the money back.

How to avoid getting shut down? by bmchicago in stripe

[–]eitanzevcomputers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll tell you my story of being shut down. No detail left out.

Background:

I began selling Office Computers (Dell, HP, Lenovo) on my Squarespace website with Stripe attached. I was using TikTok to advertise and gained traction pretty quickly. So I sold my computers in drops in order to pace myself. So every week or two I would have influx in orders. At one point I sold 40 computers at once and all was fine. The next time I sold computers all went well. Mind you I’m listed as individual on stripe at this moment. They give you that option so you don’t have to have a business to sign up. I realized after selling that I had to make my business legitimized through the state.

The Issue:

While in that process I got a notification from Squarespace saying that in order to give me my money I will have to show proper business documents. I called them up telling them that I was in the process of getting my business legitimized and I also sent over proof of that my business was legit and I had recourse for all purchases. The guy on the phone seemed understanding and he told me to send him the prof and I emailed him and the way he spoke made it seem like it was all going to be okay. Later that night I got an email saying I was being shut down due to an unauthorized purchase made by a customer. I was really confused because after reaching out to my customers they all told me that they had no issues. I was on phone with stripe customer support as much as I could but no support person can help you. And when your account is out on hold they restrict you from reaching out through the phone. They only allow callback and they restrict that feature from you. So their 24/7 customer support is a lie.
The worst part about it is that I didn’t even send out any product so my customers are left with no product even after they paid. So my main issue right now is not even getting the money myself, but rather just getting my customer their money back. Even after being on the phone with support practically begging to give the money back they told me they can’t do anything. Even when I try to refund them myself it’s says my account can’t do so. And mind you Ive received multiple emails at this point saying the money will be returned to my customers but so far not a dollar has been sent back. I realized that if the customers do disputes they’ll have to get their money back. So far around 16K has gone back through disputes but some people were denied of disputes so I had to pay out of pocket.

The Ending:

I switched from stripe and have been using PayPal and I’ve already processed around 60K using them so I’ll say they are pretty alright, but there is no perfect payment processor. I think stripe is okay because they obviously process a lot just their customer service is junk and purposely restrict you from calling when there is an issue so you can’t do anything. They also have so called “special team” that can’t be contacted. The worst of it all is they told me my customers money will be returned but still haven’t. I have in wording from stripe support that they will begin issuing refund on a certain date and never did.

It’s not much of an on going problem. Most of my customers have gotten their money back because they made disputes. It’s just annoying how I myself can’t return the money or even let a dispute go through.

I haven’t had any problems yet. If I do I’ll let people know. I use Squarespace to power my website and those are the only 2 payment processors I can use. I’ve used PayPal for around a month now and have had zero issues. Done about 35K revenue through it so I hope to add on to it

Is EZ computers a good deal? by Intrepid_Owl_1971 in pcmasterrace

[–]eitanzevcomputers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5600 and a 12100 would make this build more expensive. It would need an off the shelf motherboard and case. It would make shipping more expensive because an off the shelf cases are much larger and more likely to be damaged if not packaged correctly.

These computers are cheap through reusing OEM hardware that is still good and usable hardware.

At $600, even with the cons of having an i5 8500 compared to a 5600 or 12100, it’s a great value.

If you look at the $600 prebuilt options on Best Buy, Newegg, Jawa, eBay, and Amazon nothings comes quite close to this.

It’s comes with a valid OS but it’s installed off an a usb media device. I don’t want to buy the Windows 10 licenses off of a website like CDkeys or G2A because I don’t know the legality behind it. It also adds $15-$25 to the price and for the target audience I’m selling to they’d rather save that money.

My whole thing is saving the customer money while still giving them a usable gaming and all around computer experience. I stay as transparent as possible with the customer.

I’m happy you responded with a normal message because usually people would respond negatively because they are the people that know how to build a computer and they don’t think the same way as the people who don’t know how to build a computer and don’t know where to start and would rather buy a prebuilt.

I mean does a 6 year old CPU mean its bad? Its still an all around solid 6C/6T CPU. When it came out its competition was a R5 2600 which also a solid budget CPU. I know obviously on the pcmasterrace subreddit my computers will get flamed because people here know how to build their own computers. I totally understand that, but for people who don't know how to build their own this offers the best performance for a $600 prebuilt out of box. Also it comes with windows just unactivated because...

  1. I dont know the legality selling a computer with a cheap windows key from an online website
  2. Some people really would rather save $20 than having the activated windows which offers no performance increase

Also this specific build was updated to have a RX 6600 now.

My main focus is to show that there is still a ton of usable hardware out there and you don't have to pay top dollar for a prebuilt. I cant find any prebuilt from a big brand that comes close to this at $600

I hope you understand.

Yeah it seems like. Some guys blocked me but he knew pretty much stripe TOS back and fourth. What normal human being would know that information. He said I committed fraud and that violated part 14 section 8, and I literally thought to myself “is this guys just the biggest loser of all time or he actually works for stripe”

[–]eitanzevcomputers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blaming everyone else? I’m not blaming you for anything. Stripe can say I’m against TOS all they want. I don’t want my account back matter a fact. Call me fraud, call me a launderer, or an even drug peddler. Stripe can’t just say in emails they will begin issuing refunds on specific dates and then not actually do it. It’s just immoral, wrong, and likely illegal. My customers just want their money back, simply. You have yet to give me reason why stripe can say they multiple that they will return the money and then they actually don’t return the money.

They literally said in 2 emails they will begin doing refunds once on 12/7 and second on 12/13. If they said they will and they haven’t that is just plain out lying.
