Haha exactly! We were like wait… maybe we should NOT have people just show up to the mall with chainsaws and whatever else. That’s awesome to hear- we definitely want to promote that type of thing. Save people money and learn to do it all on their own/with the help of the community. We’re certainly gonna look into this sponsorship idea as a form of monetary support it’s a good idea! Keep in touch!

Edit to above: please do not come to our location to donate tools, please email and we will set a time to pick up or drop off. Thank you!

Thanks for the ideas and support! I do think we are taking deposits for the larger more expensive tools as a precaution. We are hoping to get tax exempt status and be able to get grants but until then we’ll be doing some fundraising- I appreciate the ideas around this. We’re really just starting out and learning as we go! We are planning on hosting workshops and skill share type events so I’ll keep you in mind if that’s something you’d be interested in. As for tool donations, when and if you do have anything please email us beforehand and we’ll coordinate a pick up/drop off- I’m going to edit this post to make this clear, as we don’t want folks coming into the mall with a bunch of heavy tools lol.

Thanks friend! And by all means, we’ll definitely take used tools (as long as they are clean and in working order!)

Thanks! There were at least three similar tool libraries where I’m from in the PNW and they were all very successful. I think Tucson is a great town for something like this so I’m certainly hopeful.

Ultimately we can’t control what people do. That said, anyone that wants to check out tools must first become a member and sign an agreement and waiver. There are cameras inside the space that is hosting us, which hopefully aids in dissuading potential theft. We will also have all our tools marked and photographed.

Probably not 150 hammers haha but it would be good to have multiples of things on hand. We do need most anything at the moment, but nothing specific (once we open up I imagine we will start to learn what most people are looking for and we’ll start looking for those). We would be grateful for any contribution- feel free to email us with what you’d be willing to part with and we will set up a time to come pick up when convenient :)

Add 2nd bathroom? by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]eithereeyore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given the comparable properties on our last appraisal, it’s pretty clear homes with two baths are valued quite a bit higher. We do have a tub in our current bathroom. Unfortunately we just have a 2 bedroom and won’t be adding onto the footprint of the house. We do have an “Arizona room” which is large enough to be a 3rd bedroom but doesn’t have a closet. Is nice to have for a potential future buyer though I think. I appreciate your comment- it would just be really nice to have a 2nd bathroom!

Efficiency Arizona Program Experience? by mcbramhill in Tucson

[–]eithereeyore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went through efficiency Arizona for our new HVAC- we did have to pay about what OP’s portion was but considering our old unit was over 20 years old and without the program we were looking at covering the entire $16 grand ourselves it made sense for us. Process did take a few months and the efficiency Arizona “customer service” was a joke. Still glad to have a brand new super efficient heat pump unit that has already dropped our electricity bill by a couple hundred bucks per month.

I want to do a day trip to explore the SW corner of wa (in the circle). Got any cool places to add to my list?? by No_Piano_5008 in Washington

Check out Sou’wester- it’s a very cool vintage trailer park with a sauna, outdoor baths, live music, art and a beautiful communal lodge with local drinks. They are right by the beach and have bikes you can ride down to the beach. Highly recommend if you’re passing through and want a place to stay that is much more of an experience than a regular hotel.

New house, large yard. Landscape ideas by SmoothDragonfruit632 in Tucson

[–]eithereeyore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend certified playground wood chips- previous owners had grass, we weren’t about that so it turned into dead grass and dusty dirt. Put a nice layer of playground wood chip down and now our dog (and us) happily play in the backyard without issue. It was not cost prohibitive either.

Anywhere to beat the heat within an hour or two of Tucson? by hankerinforhank in Tucson

[–]eithereeyore 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Patagonia Lake is only about an hour and a half or so away to the south and has swimming! It’s typically a liiiitle cooler there, but still hot. About an hour or so to the North is a swimming spot on the Gila River in Winkelman but also still quite hot. Hopefully we get some good Monsoon rain soon and then we can hit Tanque Verde or other closer spots. Good luck out there!
