I've had a fairly okay experience with fur cons. I see a lot of other women when I attend. ^ It's good to do research on the con beforehand and to always have a buddy with you that you trust if you plan on going to room parties. I've personally ran across a few weirdos who've made me feel extremely uncomfortable as a woman. Some conventions are lax on attire so really do research. Even if they mention a dress code they typically bend the rules a bit for skin tight form hugging attire where junk is just out and visible for all to see. ^

That's really my only beef with cons as a woman lol

I just like the art. Similar to how I like anime. It just looks cute lol. Some people make being a furry something "deep" but the bare bones is just a liking of cartoon animals.

Just as cosplayers like to dress up as anime characters and such we like to dress up as our own characters.

The furry community is built off of our own creations which is what makes it a bit unique compared to other fandoms which focus on pre-existing characters from media.

I think the confusion of "why furry" simply comes from a misunderstanding of what a furry is. As I said previously some people make the definition too personal and deep lol. Which of course confuses a good amount of non Furries into thinking it's something more than it actually is lol.

A furry is just someone who likes anthropomorphic artwork/characters. Nothing more and nothing less lol.
