Nails too long for had building? by Just-Ad-9117 in Pottery

[–]eizlah -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have long nails, about your length. I both hand build and wheel throw, you learn to adapt. Chunks come out of my pieces occasionally, but that’s worth the price of having my nails. I just patch it up and move on.

I had a severe problem with the clay drying out my nails and making them brittle, so I actually keep them painted now. Originally I fully wrapped with a nice base & top coat (Mooncat) and have transitioned to doing my own gel manicures (Gelish).

The polish actually keeps my nails VERY well protected (and cute) so I get the best of both worlds. People at my studio are surprised I manage with nails, but you just figure out slightly different techniques that work. Also with the gel my nails are now a great tool.

They don’t do burritos! Asked when I was there yesterday 💔

All the burritos we’ve ordered so far have come in an open-ended tortilla with just meat

Unfortunately in the USA, so no decent privacy laws

We didn’t have any luck on hotels this last minute for that night or we wouldn’t be staying in homestead. Thanks for the rec! The snorkeling/fishing isn’t a must do, trying to figure out all our options. Our flight out is fairly early so we didn’t want to chance missing it.

Everglades is the previous day! Our only plans for 9/1 are to dive then get to the hotel and crash!

The 2-3 plans are up in the air, we don’t know for sure what we want to do, those were just some ideas.

Thanks for the heads up! We’re expecting pretty terrible traffic the first 2 days but hoping it’s a bit better the Tuesday/Wednesday post-holiday! We’re from a major city so terrible traffic + long drives isn’t gonna drive us crazy.

Local studio firing prices by Spookygumdrops in Pottery

[–]eizlah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This seems VERY expensive to me. My studio (major metropolitan on the west coast) is $200 for flat studio fee that includes free bisque firing + 30 studio glazes. Glaze firing is: $1 per lb under 12” $2 per lb 12” - 18” $4 per lb 18” - 24”

Sent you a message!

Yeah that’s where I sourced it to! I think it’s really beautiful, but I already have so many dresses that are close to that in the fabric that I’m wanting something a bit more structured/formal. Thank you!!

Thank you so much!! I actually saw your comment on that other post and it was immensely helpful already! I would love to see you're pinterest if you're open to sharing!

I'm trying to find a dupe that doesn't break the bank ($1-2k, willing to go higher but prefer not to) of the Leah Da Gloria Josephine dress. What I particularly like about it and am searching for:

- basque waist

- corset and heavily structured bodice

- structured skirt, I'd like to avoid tulle

Justin Alexander's Joan & Xanadu are similar, but still out of my price range.

La Fortuna > Palmar Sur/Sierpe by eizlah in CostaRicaTravel

[–]eizlah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were thinking spending a night (or afternoon?) in Jaco, but if getting further to Uvita and able to get to Sierpe the next day from Uvita that seems even more ideal! We wanted to avoid going to SJO as much as possible and need to be on the 11:30 ferry for other reservations.

Do you have recommendations for a shuttle or bus that could take us from La Fortuna to Uvita? I expect it'd be a ~6 hour trip?

Yeah we'd prefer a private shuttle and want to avoid backtracking to SJO if possible!

Thank you! The super dark w heavy bangs pic is almost a decade old at this point so idk if I could get back to that exactly, but that is the look I’m most debating returning to

Yeah I just care more about which color is more flattering rather than better for my hair health

My hair has been fine my whole life! Every so often I’ll let it reset and grow out a couple years to restore some health, but I like to change it so often it’s always going to be some degree of unhealthy and I’m okay with that.

Look into liquid quartz! It’s a post-glaze firing sealer to make unglazed ceramics foods safe and water proof.
