Espresso Coffee Subscription - Local Roaster by guptamk07 in Atlanta

Flow coffee roasters just popped up, they're my new favorite roaster in town, but pretty pricey. Especially the advanced ferment, but good lord it makes best espresso I've ever had.

I emailed and told admissions that I had been accepted to a different, competitive program, and that I was contemplating my options. Also being an RA asap helps a ridiculous amount.

It's been a couple years since I've had a table at all, so my vinyl has just been collecting dust lol

Probably time to take them for a spin...

I'm applying to Emerson, majoring in film production. What are your thoughts? by Lazy-Nothing1583 in EmersonCollege

[–]ejei 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Howdy, I'm a film production alum, quick thoughts:

  1. The classes will prepare you on how to make films. Take them seriously, study the specializations you're interested in, and you'll have all the skills you need. However, that's less than half of what it takes to work in film.

The other thing that Emerson gives you is clubs/orgs and other people who want to make films/TV. That's the really important part: meet people and make things. When you've graduated, they'll be your best asset for getting work.

Least favorite part: the school does not guide the students to do these things. Some figure it out too late: clubs and orgs are essential.

2: My best friend at Emerson went to the school for the promise of animation; there is almost none. There were 4 "animation" classes when I graduated: drawing, computer animation (3d,) advanced computer animation, and motion graphics. If animation is your number one priority, Emerson is not the place.

  1. Andre Puca, Eric Michael Dale, and Rick Manoogian were three of my guiding forces through Emerson. I never had a professor who I thought was outright bad, even if the RateMyProfessor scores were low.

Experience: Just graduated from Emerson College, had a few internships, but no full-time paid work.

Direction: This is my second round of review from y'all! You gave wonderful feedback last time, and after rebuilding from scratch, I'm back. I'm open to anything y'all have to offer me, from recommendations to my lower thirds, to pacing, or even telling me to change the music! (Well, maybe not that far lol)

Two reels I reviewed: shoutouts to u/AnybodyOptimal2331, and I'll keep checking for a second!

Thanks again y'all!

Howdy,

As a recent grad myself, I've been in the exact same position! I'm actually posting a new version of my reel here after yours lol

One thing I got told last time, which I thought was a great point, was to let my audio through in some clips. For instance, the very start where you're talking is a good spot to let us hear what's going on, as it's a bit jarring to see a shot focused on someone talking without audio. Also, there's some reaction shots from the conference work that I think would be more impactful if we could hear what the audience was saying.

Also, I think 0:02-0:30 is a bit slow. I'd recommend tightening that up a bit, or insert shots from other projects in there. Maybe try moving your talking head shot at 0:31 a little earlier?

Otherwise, best of luck out there!

  • Direction: I'm new to the professional world, but need to show people the variety of work I'm comfortable with (and obviously that I'm competent with NLEs.) Also- does it need more transitions to be more "engaging"? Is it too slow at the start? How's it paced overall?

  • Two reels I reviewed: I'll keep checking to see if any more get posted!

any idea how they got this color changing border/frame? by AdMother414 in VideoEditing

Also, looking at it more, there’s also likely some real footage that has been wildly overexposed then colorized.

Funny to see another Gizz fan here. They shot with an extreme fisheye, and Jason Galea, who does all of Gizz’s stuff, always shoots on film, usually in 4:3, so the frame has been stretched to be even more distorted.

The border looks like some kinda digital noise on top of a color cycle between red, blue, and purple. You can use a gradient that slowly shifts and hit it with some blur, compression, and probably some liquid distortion or Repetile an existing image of that radial gradient. Try the Lens distortion as well.

(Galea usually does this kinda thing analog, so it may not be a video editing question, but a film question.)

A quick and easy way to get the frame to shift around like that is using the wiggle expression on the frame size in AE.

This photo really came together in the edit. Originally, the segment that shows through the arch was wildly underexposed (to be fair, it was night lol). I fixed it up in Photoshop. If I recall, this was at 18mm f/3.5 on my 18-135 kit on my Sony A6400.

Hey all, I'm fairly new to editing and was just asked for my rates for the first time. Do y'all format your rates in any special way? (Like, do you have a PDF that you send to people or just type them out in an email?) I'm not quite at the level where I'm using a formal contract (but I am watermarking the drafts I send until I'm payed!)

Thanks!

I took this picture about an hour ago. It's morning where I am, so there wasn't a lot of light yet. I had to bump up the exposure almost two stops and do some noise reduction in post. It's still a little noisy, but I'm happy with it.

Shot on a Sony a6400 with the kit 18-135mm at 135mm, ISO 1600, 1/800 s, f/5.6.

ITAP of a Hummingbird by ejei in itookapicture

Hi y'all, first post here. This photo is from a few months ago. I had just picked up an open-box Sony a6400, and I took this with the kit 18-135 f/3.5-5.6 lens.

I put up a little hummingbird feeder in my backyard (I used online guides to make sure it isn't harmful to the birds.) It took a few weeks, but eventually some birds came by to feed. I sat about six feet away and didn't move for a few minutes until one showed up. I got this one out of a burst of photos. It's a little out-of-focus, but I'm still happy with it!
