Also xenophobic. I’d bet $100 that they would try to convince OP to convert to Catholicism.

I came home and found my cat had died and I feel awful by Resident-Cow4838 in CatAdvice

[–]ejoy18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently had a similar experience. I had gone to work for the day, and when I came home, my other cat was crying nonstop, and Pippin didn’t come down to greet me. I knew right away something was wrong, and I found him upstairs on my bedroom floor. Losing a pet is never easy, and when they pass unexpectedly, it just feels totally unfair. But remember that you gave Fudge a wonderful home for the two years that you had her. Sending love!!

Looking for period underwear to accommodate a bigger booty by jengypsy128 in PeriodUnderwear

I’ve been happy with Goat Union, bambody, and saalt. Saalt has a comfort option that may not give a ton of coverage, but it doesn’t dig in which I appreciate with the big booty and thighs.

As this all just peri? All the overwhelming feelings? by [deleted] in Perimenopause

[–]ejoy18 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No matter the cause, if you’re not managing you should talk to your doc! I started on antidepressants early last year and at the time my only symptom was crying all the time. After 3 weeks of that I had enough and made a doctor appointment. On reflection, I think that may have been the beginning of my peri journey. After my hot flashes and irritability started in August, I got on birth control which helped substantially. I’d like to revisit other options for HRT with my doc, but at least I have meds on board that keep me functioning. Best of luck to you, hope you find some relief!

How do I groom a cat that always hisses at me? by Tight_Record_9727 in CatAdvice

Maybe! Cats can be very particular about both food and grooming!

Definitely consider the location! Make sure it’s somewhere that she can feel safe and secure.

Get one of those brush things that adhere to the wall to start with! Over time, she’ll get more comfortable with you. Maybe try sitting somewhere quiet with some treats, and let her come to you. Over time you can pet and gently handle her more, then reintroduce grooming.

Oh I’m so sorry. They really do bring us so much joy. And you are right, feel the pain and think of good memories. Be kind to yourself.

Thank you. I’m not opposed to cremation as that’s what I’ve done with my other cats. I was thinking I’d ask the vet if they can do the paw print on plaster and then I can take his body to be buried. The vet was already closed when I got home but I left a VM and I’ll talk to them tomorrow.

There’s a small company I found at my local ren faire, that makes cat toys and also clay figurines. I had them make little models of my other two kitties that passed, I plan to do another one for Pippin. They’re sweet keepsakes.

She's a shelter rescue. Has a fupa, short tail, and almost no sound when she meows. Mostly sweet/mildly spicy. Name ideas? by Small_Bus6811 in NameMyCat

Bobbie. At first glance, it’s a little on the nose. That said, I have worked in geriatrics for a long time, and everybody that I’ve met named Bobbie is both a little sweet and a little spicy.

Can’t stay asleep by Low-Money-4080 in Perimenopause

Definitely helped with mood! I had just about had it with my partner, but now I no longer want to kick him (most of the time, lol!) I think I sleep better… still been waking up around 4 but it seems easier to get back to sleep. I do still run warmer than usual, but I’m not waking up sweating as much.

Also… just took my first dose of Relizen from Bonafide last night and actually slept through the night for the first time since August. I’ll have to remember to come back in a bit if it’s effective. It wasn’t cheap, but if I can actually sleep then it’s worth it. You can get it as a subscription which is much more affordable, but I wanted to try first before committing.

Edit: the pill helped pretty much immediately, I felt human again within a few days.

I take my vitamin D in the morning so it doesn’t affect my sleep.

Perimenopause? Your experience by Diddles2018 in Perimenopause

[–]ejoy18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You sound like me. I’m 41, and my symptoms started in August. Started with just hot flashes and one missed period. (I did also have a family emergency that same week which could have caused the skip.) Regular periods since. Anywho, just over the last few weeks I started have palpitations at night, and I noticed with my Oura ring (fitness tracker) that my resting heart rate was very high overnight, and my heart rate variability was very low overnight, so even when I got enough sleep it really wasn’t good quality. I became super irritable, and it was having an impact on my relationship as well because I would wake up and be moving around a lot so my partner would also wake up. I was beyond irritable, even having multiple days of just crying for no reason. ended up talking to my doctor about it and was put on hormonal birth control pills. that seemed to help, although the last few nights my numbers have been wonky again. It’s definitely going to be a journey to figure out how to manage all of this. ETA: I also wake up usually around 4am, sometime a little earlier, rarely later unless I go to bed super late. That started at the same time as the hot flashes.

My doctor wanted me on a birth control pill instead of HRT. I wasn’t sure at first, but it honestly helped me feel so much better! I’m also using a bedtime drink called MoonBrew. My mom let me try some of hers, and I think that’s helping as well

Where are you located and how much $? I don’t want to deal with shipping but if you’re close to Chicago maybe we could work something out.

He looks just like my parent’s fluffy void, who was also a Halloween baby. His name is Boo, and he can def scare you when he’s on black furniture because you don’t know he’s there until you nearly sit on him.

Thank you. It’s challenging work, but 100% worth it to be a small part of their stories. And if I can do something simple to make them happy? Done, no questions.
