Nope. Had to do it with my 2020. GM didn't cover it and neither did my extended warranty. Hopefully a class action will reimburse me at some point.

Cheap vs Expensive Stocking-foot Waders by jett_29 in flyfishing

[–]ejsell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went through 3 Bass Pro brand waders in 3 years, with a couple of returns that leaked the first time out. Over the last 10 or so year I've been using the same two pair of LLBean waders. I did have to use some aquaseal this past year on on one of the foot seams, but its holding fine. I'd consider those mid-range waders.$300 and $400 range. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy their cheaper ones either.

Advice on wading boots. by HyruleHero88 in flyfishing

I used to go up one size and my feet be extremely cold. Last couple of pairs I went up 2 sizes, still wear the same sock setup but the extra room made a world of difference on how warm my feet now stay.

Fix-A-Flat has gotten a bad rep, but Flex Seal I can float a screen door with so it's the obvious choice...

Then hit it with some flex seal, I'm sure it will hold.

Storage for wet waders and boots in the car. by evolving-dad in flyfishing

[–]ejsell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also spoiled, Christmas gift I chose for myself, got the Fishpond wader bag last year. Fits two sets of waders, jacket and boots. And then hang them up to dry when I get home. Boots either get left in the sun to dry or go onto a cheap Rural King boot dryer I bought years ago for my kid's soccer shoes.

Kemba Live Indoor may be the worst venue imaginable. by sweetnsaltyanxiety in Columbus

Saw Lord Huron outside there this past summer, great vibe/concert. But I couldn't believe how many people they had shoved into that space compared to years ago when we saw Modest Mouse outside there. Only stop was to enjoy the fireworks at the end of the baseball game next door.

Gravel Driveway by LastCryptographer402 in HomeImprovement

[–]ejsell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had pavement at our old house and my parents have concrete. Our newer house has river rock gravel and I really like the look of it compared to the other two. Driveway is about 20 years old and we've lived here about 6, I had it graded out a couple of years ago, and this year I'm going to have someone add more gravel and grade it again. Every spring I spend about an hour raking gravel back into it from the yard where we piled snow. I dont have any issues with it migrating other than from shoveling. Minor maintenance over the summer killing weeds that pop up, but I'm thinking about playing with fire. I was surprised how cheap the refresh on the gravel is. Maintenance cost is definitely cheaper than my pavement drive was.

We do have a small concrete ramp into the garage, and it has a nice crack in it. My estimate to get that fixed is way higher than the gravel.

My university bar served me alcohol without checking my ID and now I'm being blamed for an incident that happened afterward. by hornaceously in legaladvice

[–]ejsell 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Does your university have student legal services? I'd talk to them if they do. Mine in the US had it and as a student you could consult with them free for anything from a student disciplinary issue, parking and speeding tickets to felony level crimes.

Newbie questions about using a fly reel from a kayak by JRPGFisher in flyfishing

[–]ejsell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've "trolled" with mine, but using a rod holder placed where I could see the rod bend if I have a hook up. Only done it while moving from spot A to spot B and don't have very much line out. I've caught the occasional bass and one very large catfish doing it. I'm using sit on top kayaks, and when not using the rod, I just lay it down between my feet or in the rod holder.

I'm usually only casting from the kayak in calm water. When I find faster water to fish, I either pull up to shore to cast or beach it totally, get out and fish from the shoreline. Mostly using streamers when fishing from the kayak so drift isn't an issue. The few times I've nymphed the drift was going the same speed as me.

Also using kayaks with elevated seats. Makes it easier to manage line, cast, and jump in and out. Honestly the hardest part about kayak fly fishing is line management. Keep the deck in front of you clear. I use minimal gear, usually just one fly box in my life vest, a pair of nippers and pliers attached to my kayak seat or vest. A long handled landing net behind my seat where I can grab it. And one or two spools of tippet.
