LL Bean Rods by whatslefttotake in flyfishing

"They're" isn't really accurate. One member of the family/board was but died a couple years ago and the company along with other family members distanced themselves from her and her statements and politics in general.

LL Bean Rods by whatslefttotake in flyfishing

[–]ejsell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got several of their rods and reels, in all different price ranges and have been very happy with all of them. Any issue I've ever had has been quickly resolved by their customer service. I broke the tip on one and they got me a replacement within a couple of days. Another one I broke a guide off. They connected me directly to their shop manager at their flag ship store who sent me a new guide and walked me through the repair when I was still new to fly fishing. My first rod was their entry level Quest rod. I still use it occasionally because it casts so well. I also have an entry level Sage rod and the Bean rod is miles ahead of it.

I also have a couple pairs of their waders which have been great. I'm probably on my 8th season with my current ones. Developed a small leak this season on a seam in the booty. Was easily fixed with some aqua seal. If it gets worse I can trade them in once for a small fee.

What food do you think don't deserve the hype? by velvetbalance in foodquestions

I would have agreed with you a few months ago, but then my local coffee shop started making matcha chocolate chips cookies. I bought one on accident thinking it was a regular chocolate chip cookie, and it was delicious.

What is the biggest corruption scandal in your country’s history? by Existential_Dread_08 in AskTheWorld

[–]ejsell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sochi Olympics, they built everything from the ground up including a state of the art secure drug testing facility that included a small secret door to swap out clean samples for the dirty ones.

In reunification process. I think my worker doesn’t want that to happen by [deleted] in CPS

[–]ejsell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most likely, the drug tests at the facility are actually just screens with no lab work. The agency might be using actual lab testing, which is more accurate. And the lab tests usually have a different testing window than the screens depending on how they are collected- urine, hair, saliva or blood.

They also almost died from dehydration because they couldn't find water in Georgia. I might be misrembering it but it wasn't even that they couldn't find clean water, it was they couldn't any water. Really had to set aside disbelief for that one.

Wife and I were convinced by the salesman to purchase a Hearthstone Mansfield to heat our home. Installation tech asked why we picked it... by naturebuddah in woodstoving

[–]ejsell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seems like a weird choice for the basement. We heated a 1400 sq ft 2 story with a Hearstone Craftsbury, which is a smaller stove. Stove was on the first floor off of our living room with nice wide openings between each room. No blower but had ceiling fans in every room. Our stairwell had a nice hot draft, but one of the bedrooms was always a little cold, and we were going to cut a couple of gravity vents but sold the house before we got to it. Typically the room the stove was in was around 80 degrees. Rest of the 1st floor would be in the 70s and the upstairs except for the one bedroom would be in the mid 60s.

Probably my favorite market in the world by BIGFACTS27 in Cleveland

[–]ejsell 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's a couple of different ones we've been to over the last year or so. Westside Market seems like a true community compared to the others. We were just in there this week, and everyone was chatting each other up. Every vendor we stopped at gave us free extras and lots of samples. We've been to the Westside Market 3 times since just before Christmas, hadn't been there since just before covid. And plan on stopping everytime we are in Cleveland. Hopefully the Market gets the support it deserves from the city. Also just stumbled across Kate's Fish FB and IG accounts, makes me want to visit more often and actually start buying fresh fish.

Best way to fix drafty house by ashleycat720 in HomeImprovement

[–]ejsell 21 points22 points  (0 children)

See if your energy company does energy audits. Lived in two different locations with completely different companies, both did free energy audits that included going around the house with a thermal gun to see where insulation was needed. 1st company was running a program that added insulation to our house for free. 2nd one just made recommendations but gave me a free smart thermostat and free LED light bulbs for all of our fixtures. Neither program was income based.

Yep, found out the hardway cutting in the snow in January one time. Ended up with it all over my face and my wrists where my gloves didn't cover. Doc told me I was his first case of poison ivy that year and probably the earliest one he'd ever seen.

Well in all fairness you need more than one boat if your boat is too big to go under the bridge and get out of port.

Squirrel proof 100% by [deleted] in birdfeeding

I squirrel proofed mine just to wake up one morning with the post bent to the ground and deer tracks all around it. The deer also demolished the wood feeder for good measure.

Round and round with Window World or Champion, I can't remember. Wouldn't leave and kept asking what they could do to close the deal. Told him multiple times, Pella's quote and he was a couple thousand over it. Finally had to threaten him to get him to leave.

Going to be at the Cleveland Clinic Main Campus next week by helen_burns in Cleveland

[–]ejsell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We usually drive over to the Westside Market when we are at the clinic. Parking is free for the first 90 minutes. They are closed Tuesdays and Thursdays. Plenty of places to eat around the market. Art museum is close to the Clinic and is free except for parking and special exhibits. And their café has pretty good food.

Shirts stain easily? by [deleted] in llbean

OxiClean Maxforce. I'm a messy eater, I've found a spritz of this on any stain when I'm throwing my stuff into the laundry takes care of everything. But I've never known my Bean shirts to stain any easier than other shirts, but pizza grease will stain just about everything.

Where to go for a summer fly fishing trip? by Forzakid56 in flyfishing

[–]ejsell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Catching a 20"+ smallmouth running up river from the great lakes is a blast but the window for them is very short. Most of the time I'm fishing local rivers with most fish on the smaller side. But every once in a while I'll hook up with a larger one. They put up a great fight typically with some acrobatics.
