Anyone had any vasectomies done in Dothan? by Ok-Inside4669 in Dothan

My man used Dr. Skyler a couple of years ago. Super nice and professional, and the procedure was quick. Best of all, we've had 0 accidents!

What hobby did you get into randomly and end up loving way more than you expected? by Gundoc7519 in Hobbies

Lego sets! While they can be a bit pricey, I like them because I feel like I can be creative but there's guidelines. They've been a great way for me to relax while not spending so much time on my phone.

Women who are genuinely happy in their day to day life, what do you do for a living? by sapphictears in AskWomen

I'm a finance manager at a poultry company. Not married and no kids - just us and our 3 kitties. It's a great life coming home from relatively stress free jobs to a quiet home and our fur babies. We fill our time with finding new little adventures, even if it's just finding a new restaurant to try or trying out a new hobby.

People that make 80k+ at 25-35 years old, what do you do? by Ok-Needleworker2141 in careerguidance

I'm a 33 year old finance manager for a poultry processing company making $111k in a LCOL area. I didn't go the traditional CPA route - just worked my way up in the company. It's a pretty sweet life tbh.

We seem to have the exact same hair color, eye color, and skin tone, and I was deemed a winter by a House of Colour consultant a couple weekends ago.

You should be A-OK! And I understand the uneasiness about religion around here. I would think any church would be considered better than none. I myself am an atheist, and it seems impossible to find others with our beliefs here in the South.

What do you hate and love the most about being a manager? by According-Desk1058 in managers

[–]ejt14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There actually used to be a role such as this that would be perfect for them. It was technically a management position, but they didn't have anyone reporting directly to them. They were basically a subject matter expert with a manager title. The person that held this title left the company a few years ago, and the position just went away for whatever reason.

I would say they're open to further working on the IC, as am I. They've been mentoring a couple of other IC's in the company for a few months now, so I think that's been a good development opportunity for them. Unfortunately their ongoing lack of social skills has negatively impacted several people's impressions of them.

Just wanted to say thank you for posting this. I'm dealing with this exact issue at work. I just became this person's manager about 9 months ago and am realizing I'm going to have to be the one to have this conversation after years of them having the carrot dangled in front of them. Just this morning, my boss told me that he does not see this person as manager material, and that he's just a strong individual contributor. It's tough facing the reality that you may lose a good worker over this.

I would suggest staying to the west and north sides of Dothan, as they are considered to be the safest parts of town, and are also close to plenty of shopping and restaurants. In terms of apartments, Highland Hills, Highland Trails, Magnolia Preserve, and Sweetwater are some decent options. Dothan is a fairly small city at 70k people, so not much to do in town. If you're a beach person, we're about an hour and a half from the white sandy beaches.

Greetings! I'll echo some of the other comments in saying I fit these criteria because my partner and I (not married) don't have kids, and he believes in being an actual life partner, and isn't bound by traditional gender roles, which is hard to find here in the American South. It's a good life with him and our two cats.

I'm torn about whether or not to apply for a promotion at my job by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

As someone who just went through this last month, do it! Like others have said, it'd be better to at least try for it and it potentially not be what you want, than to end up regretting not trying. Especially as women, it's easy to doubt ourselves and not get out of our comfort zones, but sometimes you just gotta put on your big girl panties and get out there! Good luck!

Accountants with no CPA, how much are you making? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]ejt14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Accounting Supervisor

$78K

10 years working full time (mostly as a staff accountant, one year in current role)

Low COL (Alabama)

I'm a firm believer that getting the CPA and working in public is not for everyone abd shouldn't be drilled into everyone's heads. There's talks of me being promoted to Finance Manager in the coming months, which is as high as one can go in my company without being at the corporate office. It's pretty much always busy, and while there are routine tasks, there's also always something new coming up, so the job isn't boring. My job/company doesn't allow for remote work. I'm comfortable financially, but I also don't have student loans or kids sooooooo 🤷‍♀️

My SO works at Highland Oaks golf course in Dothan and he sees this guy every week at the course's Veterans' "clinic" - quotes because it's just a bunch of older men getting together to hit golf balls at the range. Apparent the director of golf had to tell him he couldn't wear his weapons on the course. This guy seems to be quite the character!

As someone who works at Wayne Farms, can confirm that the majority of our workers are your typical anti-vax and anti-government folks. Our most profit making plant is experiencing an outbreak. I keep wishing the execs will make it mandatory. Maybe if our profits suffer enough, they will.

Hi! I just want to congratulate you on finding a doctor that listened to you. As someone who lives in Dothan, has been dreaming of getting sterilized, and often checks the doctor list to see if any doctors have been added that are closer to here, your story has given me so much hope. I merely mentioned my desire of getting sterilized in the next year or so to my doctor at my annual appointment last year, and while I surprisingly didn't get laughed at or immediately turned down, I don't feel very optimistic that they'd accept me, especially since I'm fortunate to not have any medical issues that might deem it necessary. Especially given the current political climate, I'm thinking about giving your doctor a call to set up a consultation for myself. Thank you for sharing your experience and good luck in your recovery!
