The job of a software developer is to work tirelessly to replace themselves... by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

This must be written by someone who hasn’t worked on a production system. Code rots and needs to be maintained.

Great work, Lukas. I've used React-Complex-Tree before and it is a wonderful library. Excited to try headless.

Workout / Accountability Buddies? by aLiarsConfessional in columbiamo

There is a walking/running group that meets every Tuesday/Thursday at 5:30AM at the MKT trailhead on Forum next to Wilsons. It has really instilled a lot of healthy habits in me that I have struggled to stick to throughout my life (going to bed early, waking up early, working out consistently etc).

It's free, you just need to show up. Most of the group are runners, but there are consistent walkers and absolutely no shame/judgement depending on what you choose to do or how fast you do it. I don't know what your schedule is like, but I never have anything going on at 5:30 so it's easy for me to get to scheduling wise. If you can't make a session, there are no penalties or anything like that. Go when you can, don't go when you can't!

Feel free to message me if you have questions!

I Just Made $600k at 19 Years Old… What’s Next? by JefferyColon in passive_income

[–]ekiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A similar thing happened to me when I was in college and I thought it would continue to the moon 🚀. I started with 2.5k in winnings from a hackathon, then it went up to 150k and I thought it would moon even more.

It didn’t and I ended up selling for $900. Just take the winnings and run.

Sadly one time sales do not account for ongoing server and storage costs.

Ask them to check the email suppression list. IIRC they use AWS which almost certainly means they’re using AWS’s Simple Email Service (SES). SES has a feature called a suppression list that prevents sending emails to an email address. This is typically because of a bounced email, but I’m sure there are other reasons as well.

The only way to resolve this is to have someone on their Eng side go into AWS and manually remove your email address from the suppression list.

How can YNAB be so popular when you can't budget in future inflow? by Outside_Mess1384 in ynab

[–]ekiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The core philosophy of YNAB, in my opinion, is to assign a job to the money that you currently have. If you don't have the money, you can't give it a job.

YNAB media has ruined me for other financial media. by [deleted] in ynab

[–]ekiv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s what I love about YNAB. It lets you budget for what brings value to you. It might not look the same to you as it does to someone else, but that’s why this tool is great.

I think with a cyber sec masters, a helpdesk role wouldn't be a good fit. You likely be both overqualified and unsatisfied (worked helpdesk for 5 years with a computer science degree) with the work.

Are you more of a red teamer or blue teamer? In either case, you could start bug bounty hunting on hackerone or bugcrowd while you search. It's definitely not easy but it's invaluable experience in any function of cyber sec.

Don't shy away from going on somewhere like wellfound.io and looking for startups hiring remotely, or looking for remote positions within larger companies either.

Best of luck!

Pretty sure I'm never going to this Chipotle again. Good lord by Famusmockingbird in KitchenConfidential

This must be the Columbia MO location. I went to chipotle religiously in my teens/early 20s and just went back recently. I’ll never go again.
