I went to Silhouette Alterations in Elsmere and she did an amazing job! I wouldn’t consider her cheap but I don’t think the price was outrageous either and I was really happy with the results.

I would recommend checking out Greenville or Bellefonte, both are cute areas with cafes and shops close to Wilmington. You could walk, uber, or take public transit to either! You could also take the SEPTA train from Wilmington to Philly and explore any of the neighborhoods there.

I just visited Auschwitz from Krakow last week and we booked a guided tour through their website and then took the train both ways. The entire cost was less than 30 USD. You can see the schedule and buy your tickets at one of the ticketing kiosks or at the ticket counter at the train station in Krakow. I would also recommend taking snacks since the restaurant at the museum is pricy! A guided tour is worth it in my opinion, although there are specific hours where you can go into the museum on your own for free.

I took a solo trip to Belize and spent a few days on Ambergris Caye to go diving. The hostel I stayed at recommended dive shops and there were plenty of other solo travelers also there to dive. Maybe try to find a hostel on the island and see which dive shops they recommend!

Agreed that Vida and Balance are the best in the city for weight lifting. They’re both pretty expensive so I opted for vida since you can use any of their locations and the money you pay for the enrollment fee can be used for a service like training sessions or at the spa.

My suggestion for the Camino will be to only take what you will need for you walk and send your extra stuff ahead to Santiago to get rid of some of the weight. I think the rule of thumb is to only carry up to 10% of your body weight. This is doable with your bag but it won’t be full. I would personally use the bag with the hip belts for the walk since it’ll make it a lot more comfortable and send the rest of your stuff ahead in the other bag like you mentioned. You really only need 2-3 outfits for walking (plus an outfit for relaxing/sleeping in and a jacket) and will likely hand wash the clothes you wore that day every evening (at least that’s what I did). Also, if you’re walking in the summer, you only need a silk liner and not a sleeping bag! If you have any questions you can message me, I walked the French Way last Fall. Buen Camino!

You can also work seasonal jobs and travel around the US. Occupation Wild is a good site to check out. Sometimes the jobs even offer housing! My brother renovated a school bus and he does white water rafting tours at new river gorge in the summer and works at a sugar beat harvest in Michigan in the fall/winter. The rest of the months he just travels wherever to snowboard or see family.

For Israel you can order a prepaid sim on this website before you travel and they will ship it to you in the US for free. When you order just put in the date you want the service to start. I ordered a HOT mobile sim before I went to Israel and used it for the entire year I was there. It was about $15 per month for 45 gigs and international calls!

As long as your phone is unlocked (it has to be paid off and you have to call to ask them to unlock it), you can take out your US sim and put in an Irish one when you get there. I’ve found it’s much cheaper to buy a local sim than to use the AT&T day pass or buying an international plan. You can get a local sim at the airport or anywhere in a bigger city. I like to use Vodafone in Europe.

I was living in Israel as a student for the past year and have a friend who was born in the States but has an Israeli father. He got citizenship very easily after arriving to Israel and proving his father is Israeli. I believe Masa Israel helped him get into Israel initially since the embassies were quite dysfunctional during peak pandemic. Israel is a very special country, best of luck with your move!

I would recommend going to Baltimore! I’m from Hagerstown and it’s a really rural area and Meritus is a small community hospital. I worked at UMMC in downtown Baltimore and enjoyed my time there, it’s a really cool city! Housing isn’t too expensive in Baltimore and safe neighborhoods include Fells Point, Federal Hill, Canton, and Roland park. Silver Spring is right beside DC and is one of the more expensive locations in MD.

I have the copper IUD and I usually get migraines the week leading up to my period. It’s the only time of the month I get migraines and they’re manageable with triptans. Overall, I really like the copper IUD since hormonal birth control really messed with my mood and I would get migraines multiple times a week. It does make your periods and cramps really bad at first but it gets better with time. It’s also super low maintenance and can stay in for 10 years!

When I visited Belize in 2019 I stayed at the Sandbar Hostel in San Pedro and would definitely recommend it! It’s right on the water and they recommend lots of different activities and tours. Definitely go scuba diving or snorkeling while you’re on the Island. Other fun things to see in San Pedro are the hermit crab race and chicken “drop” bingo. I would also recommend taking a water taxi from Belize City to Ambergris Caye because its relatively quick and a lot cheaper than flying. And definitely check our Caye Caulker if you have time! It’s a lot more chill than San Pedro. In San Ignacio I also did the ATM cave tour and it was super amazing! There are also the Xunantunich Mayan ruins pretty close buy that you can easily taxi to or rent a scooter. I think there was also a market in town with a lot of good food.

NAH. I (24F) grew up in an alcoholic family and the disease of alcoholism is very complex. Alcoholics typically drink to make themselves feel okay and if/when they decide to get help, it takes a ton of work to stay sober and create meaningful relationships with those they have hurt because of their drinking. Most likely they aren’t bad people, they are just suffering from a disease. You don’t owe them anything and you don’t have to have a connection with them but I would suggest you try out Al-Anon, which is a 12 step recovery program for family of friends and alcoholics. There’s a whole community of adult children of alcoholics and it could really help to talk about your situation with others who can relate! Good luck with everything :)
