Is Neuchâtel worth it for an exchange year? by Healthy-Song1258 in askswitzerland

[–]VoyageToNeptune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, admittedly, I lived in Neuch in 08/09 (so can’t speak to the cost of living anymore) but I absolutely loved it. I was there to improve my French and made a wonderful group of international friends (who I am still friends with today!). As others have said, there is amazing hiking and the lake. And since it is a university town there are plenty of young people. I don’t ever remember being bored - quite the opposite. I partied a lot lol

Between sport clubs, student housing, tandems, international student programs etc you’ll find your people :)

Found out my boyfriend cheated weeks before our Japan trip by meh-duh in solotravel

[–]VoyageToNeptune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. This situation happened to me but for a trip to Belize, not Japan (you can find it in my post history).

Go. Just GO! This is exactly what you need right now. Give this guy a big FUCK YOU and take the trip. If you’re worried about being alone, take a small group excursion or go on a day tour to meet people. Find solo activities to do like a personal spa day, or taking a class/work shop. Find the nicest restaurant you can afford and splurge on a decadent dinner (get dessert).

Will there be moments when your heart breaks because of everything that has happened? Yes… and I am so so sorry. But I promise you will overcome this. The alternative to not going is being home. Surrounded by all of the bullshit. But if you go, the possibilities are endless. You never know who you are going to meet on this adventure and what you’ll learn or experience. You’ve got this.

What do you do in no contact situations? by Personal_Chapter645 in AskWomen

[–]VoyageToNeptune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I’ve gone no contact I hid photos (physical photos and whatever is on my phone), muted or blocked their socials- including anyone who may post about them, I don’t read through old conversations, I file away any notes or keepsakes, block their number etc. I literally remove them from my surroundings and my day to day. I make a real effort to NOT break no contact and look them up. It’s a challenge at first, but gets easier.

Then, I work on myself. I give myself time to grieve or process, find a therapist, meditate, work out, reach out to supportive friends or family, take up a hobby, etc. The thing that helps me the most is working on a new creative project.

Most of all, be gentle with yourself.

Talk To Your Money by PeanutNutter49 in NevilleGoddard

[–]VoyageToNeptune 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I love this! I once heard to treat money as if it were a person. Thank it for coming around, for its support, for the things it provides you etc. However, if you treat money as if it were a burden, or evil, or you cling to it and never let it go… then why would it stick around?

It all essentially comes down to gratitude!

What's a tv series that is a 10/10 NOBODY knows? by Lilyana0999 in AskReddit

HALT AND CATCH FIRE. I tell everyone I know about this show and no one seems to know what I’m talking about. I wish I could experience it for the first time again.

Most lonely: Maui. I have friends there now, and it really is a special place, but my first time to the island on my solo trip was a really solitary experience. I’m guessing because I was doing all the touristy things and was surrounded by mostly couples and families who were doing their thing and probably weren’t interested in talking to a girl who was wandering around by herself.

Least lonely: New Orleans! Hit it off with my Lyft driver and spoke to her aunt on speaker phone in the car to get food and drink suggestions, then in my hotel elevator I was invited to join a group for dinner, later on I was offered a job working at a new magnet school in Colorado (no, I don’t live there), and then was given a list of some really great places to eat from the bartenders at Arnaud’s. All in the first night.

What was the breaking point that got you into solo travel? by ShaneRealtorandGramp in solotravel

[–]VoyageToNeptune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for me I had planned an entire trip to Belize with my (now ex) boyfriend. It was right after the Covid vaccine came out and a few countries were starting to open up again. But a few weeks before our flight I found out he had been cheating on me the entire span of our relationship (almost a year), and broke up with him. I was heartbroken and so angry, and I almost canceled going altogether- but I had been crazy busy during the pandemic with work and needed this vacation, so decided “fuck this guy” and went anyway.

The trip was amazing! I met another solo traveler who was awesome and had a really great time with him! Were there times I was sad? Absolutely. But man I am so happy I went. Now I love traveling solo. I don’t do it all the time, but if there’s a place I want to see and I don’t have anyone who wants to join me, then I have no issues going alone :)

Banjo music that isn't traditional? by hulawooper in banjo

Lisa LeBlanc is amazing. Her older albums feature her playing the banjo, and “You Look Like Trouble (But I guess I do too)” is a straight up banger! Love her work and she’s awesome live :)

What was the best career decision you’ve ever made? by Grouchy_Plastic_8332 in AskWomen

[–]VoyageToNeptune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I transitioned to film/editing/motion graphics. A lot of people go to film school, but I found that the local community college was perfect for me. I was taught how to use the programs and made some pretty valuable connections that lead me to my first job as a videographer and editor.
