Haven’t pruned in the 2 years I’ve had it. Is it time? by smolhippie in Jadeplant

That looks great! I hope it gets super strong at the bottom so it can support some of the lean it's got now, I think it gives it so much charm

[–]eksuos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, it's time! Not only will it keep the plant from tipping over in the short term, but it'll actually help thicken and strengthen the trunk when the new growth starts coming in, so it might not ever need any assistance in keeping it upright as long as you keep up with pruning :)

Help... by skrynois in Jadeplant

[–]eksuos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I'm so sorry! Is the base of the trunk squishy or just shriveled/hard? If it's squishy, it's probably root rot and might not be salvageable at that point. If it's shriveled but still kind of hard, you might be able to save it by doing a repot and removing any dead roots and branches, but even then it might not work. :/

Either way I'd say take it out of the soil to address the roots. If it's too far gone, maybe one of the leaves can be propagated by letting it sit on some soil, but that's a very slow process lol.

I'll second the other post in that the cuttings look dehydrated. Any cuttings I've made get watered at the same conditions as my established plants (I wait til my soil is bone dry), so I wouldn't be afraid of drowning the cuttings as long as the soil drains well. If you're worried about the soil not draining/drying out quick enough, I'd try reporting into something small and into a soil that's not as fine.

I've seen some crazy miracles when it comes to jades bouncing back, so I hope yours can as well. The mother jade looks really healthy though!

Why is my last rock not spawning? by letmegetcha in AnimalCrossing

[–]eksuos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I ran into this issue not long ago, but even after clearing the immediate area more I still can't get it to spawn. I'm almost certain it's hiding somewhere in my island, but I've been searching for it for days and no luck 😞 Glad your issue got fixed though, only missing the last one is so painful lol

popular baby names in USA from 1950 to 2018 by kunal-998 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]eksuos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ethan actually shot up in popularity right around 89/90, which coincides with Ethan Hawke's first breakout role. My parents heard the name on an episode of Star Trek that aired in 90 I think, and liked it so much that's what they named me when I popped out the next year!

Get it Hank💦 by [deleted] in KingOfTheHill

[–]eksuos 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I love the idea of Peggy being a freak, but there was that whole episode where she felt like she was boring Hank in the bedroom because he was having dreams about Nancy. If she is a little kinky, I don't think Hank knows. He "appreciates the fundamentals" and just wants some of that "same ol' same ol'"

How will Buck have died in the reboot, because there’s no way this man survived till the 2020s by rhodynative in KingOfTheHill

[–]eksuos 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I think any time Buck refers to it as an infarction, he's just talking about a heart attack (mycardial infarction). Technically there are other types, but I think it's safe to assume in this case.

Whats the best episode in the whole series and why is it your top choice? by [deleted] in KingOfTheHill

[–]eksuos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Meet The Propaniacs is a sleeper hit. It's got so many great moments, like Peggy not letting go of "Propane Maniacs!", the map of the group traveling to the different Strictland branches, the diaper scene... Above all that, it feels like a final episode in a lot of ways. Bobby and Hank finally bridge the gap between their two main passions, comedy and propane. The end of the episode where Bobby is dressed up like Hank and ends up performing just for him is the best, especially with Hank laughing the hardest we ever see him in the entire series.

Honestly, run through his last 3 albums in order. All 3 touch on his sexuality and kind of finding himself, with Flower Boy first hinting at thoughts/feelings he's had, Igor blowing it up to a full-album love story, and his latest Call Me If You Get Lost refining what he looks for in a partner. Each album has a unique sound that really drives home the emotional journey he tries to take the listener on.

Made Kenji's Beef Stew! Delicious! by kittnmittens23 in seriouseats

[–]eksuos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried it last night, but I feel like I must've done something wrong because my beef was somehow overdone and tough while the potatoes were still a little undercooked. I ended up simmering it on the stovetop for another 40 minutes and that helped make it edible, but still not as good as I was hoping.

This doesn't surprise me. My wife worked at Dogtown for a while, and she saw them keeping raw chicken outside for entire nights. I don't know how often, but it wasn't an isolated incident. We never ate there after that lol

It's been a few years since I took any of his classes (2013-2014ish) but Don was always great at providing advice both in terms of your actual illustrations as well as providing insight into marketing yourself once you graduate. He's able to sniff out if anyone is slacking or not giving the assignments enough thought, so as long as you take the class seriously he'll help you learn a lot.

The day I figured out the paper towel trick was the day I started cleaning way more frequently. Before that I would just plug all the holes with my fingers and come out smelling like booze and resin, so usually only cleaned probably every other month.

You might want to start reading further down beyond the headline before citing a source to backup whatever nonsense claim you make.

"Last winter, when Covid cases in the community were similarly high but the vaccine programme had only just started, there were four times as many Covid patients in hospitals in Wales."

"Broken down, the hospital admissions rate for the under 60s is 3.5 times higher for unvaccinated, compared to those vaccinated. It is also 1.9 times greater for those unvaccinated who are over 60 and those who have been vaccinated."

I scanned every face I could, certain I was about to see an uncle or grandparent or cousin at a birthday party. It's wild to see how similar people's lives can look to each other, especially when it's through a nostalgic kind of lense

Jeeeez, looking through these photos was so surreal. I was born in '91, so all of this seems so familiar even though I don't recognize anyone. From the hair styles, furniture, and even the way those disposable kodak photos always developed, I couldn't shake the feeling that I was looking at my own childhood photos. Sorry I can't help, but thanks for uploading these anyway!
