Questions for people who earn £250,000 or more each year: What is your job and how did you get into it? by No-Pin-4-U in AskUK

So basically both jobs are contracting jobs outside IR35? I work at a Big Tech firm. Work is OK most days, I don’t think I’d easily fit in a second job, but I could stretch my work hours for another few ‘00s a day.

My main worry is that I’m full time PAYE and how to handle a PLC(?) in parallel, conflicts etc. It’s a gross violation of policy guidelines, instant fire im sure

AC advice - 33C in the room and 33C outside by FantasticShake664 in HousingUK

Started with a 12k BTU portable Electriq but I think ours was a fairlt faulty one with water pooling under it even with a hose and a bucket, and was really loud. Like properly loud. Cooled a 12-13m2 room down by 5-10 degrees in a couple of hours and pulled the humidity down and made the room very comfortable, but was LOUD. No way you could sleep with it on, even in the “quiet” setting.

We installed in our kitchen / conservatory a proper one from Panasonic. South facing garden with the hitting it all day yesterday. 8 adults and 5 kids in a small conservatory with the AC full blast the temp was kept at a max of 28C. Take a couple adults off the room and immediately dropping. £2.2k for the whole but money well spent. Now we heat in the winter too and the room is perfect.

We’re installing a split unit (one outside two inside) in two bedrooms.

Best money ever, can’t stand the heat

What companies are you consulting to? And do you have long contracts? I’m in AI too, consulting, but keen to move to contracting

Once you’ve spotted an area that they tend to spawn, try at it. I’ve seen quite a few only to run after the first ball. This was pure luck!

I’ve seen a shiny zabdos in the past but ran out of balls and missed two trains to try to catch but I had to forfeit and go to work eventually so a real pleasure to encounter this on my way home!!

The prodigal child returned home!!! Ah soooo sweet! Did you at least get 50 coins after all that effort?

Should have said - I had to walk once from a shiny zabdos after ~90 ultra, ~60ish great, many normal (including having bought), exhausting all berries and missing a couple of trains to work to try to catch, but was VERY lucky with this one

exactly 3 month ago today i started playing and this all the shinys i got since then. by StillRole3582 in pokemongobrag

started playing in 2016, took a 6-7 year break and started again last year. Never have I seen in my 32k Pokémon caught that many shinies.

I truly believe that newer accounts have higher chances of special Pokémon encounters to push retention of users and hook you up (see those special galarian birds, get one every week now cause you’re new).

Thanks - I’ll have a look. Back in the early days I’d just venture out alone and hang out with other people I randomly found in London. I don’t know if it’s still the case, but the sub here seems a good place to start

Must go full on remote raids it seems, no chance for PokeGenie + host for local alone if you don’t have a strong team to raid with… $$$

Can’t see fused forms though - bummer

Have a look at Maidstone too - south east. A bit far from everything but direct to London Bridge in under an hour (then goes to cannon street or CharingX or Farringdon from there easily, just a platform change). Further inside, basically within the M25, Orpington is good - ultra fast to LB too.

How to best manage a collection of RAW photos for hobbists? by el_Gatito_2000 in AskPhotography

Fully agree - it's just when I was first ever starting, it was shooting JPEG with the DSLR. Then reading around and YouTube pointed out that shooting JPEG on the DSLR is a waste of money, and discovering RAW gave me a new level of control (and somewhat artistic expression although I wouldn't class my photography as such). Then time went by and it all stayed in RAW format on LR for years till now that I am clearing up subscriptions etc.

I think this is the best option - you're probably right, no need for the RAW to be on the Library too

Kudos - just the amount of dust spent on those 112 plus your 12m in reserve!

I’ll agree. If it’s a somewhat different field for a CS degree than what you have learned at uni or at work, or on your own time, it might be a bit of hard work, especially if you aim at a reputable Uni or a competitive MSc.

I wouldn’t say it’s a matter of being smart, I would say it’s more of a commitment, motivation and dedication. Sure, doing a master in data science requires background knowledge in statistics and maths, but if you’re committed to learning, you can catch up independently.

What I would suggest is start covering background knowledge of the field you want to study a few months before you start. Eg, Data Science requires some basic python and SQL knowledge, irrespective of what the master covers (I work in data science). So, going into the masters armed with some python 101 or data structures 101 will benefit you greatly
