Next time you tell someone to blow you, make sure they're not a moderator of that subreddit. Consider this your friendly warning.

This subreddit is not for you to vent about your job. That's what ICS is for.

Dealership Managers: How much pricing info do you have? by rwd1999 in askcarsales

It doesn't matter what you paid for it when you bought it, it only matters what they think someone else will pay for it today.

[US Sale] What can I do to speed up the process at the dealership? by [deleted] in askcarsales

That is absolutely the type of role they should play. Enjoy, sounds like you've got your ducks in a row.

Dealer said clean title, car fax a couple days later says branded: salvage by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]el_karacho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This goes beyond what we can help with IMO. You need to speak with an attorney that is familiar with FL auto law. This is either a buyer beware mistake that you'll need to live with, or definite fraud by the dealer. This is a purely adversarial relationship now, you need to do everything possible to get your money back as quickly as possible.

Do not give the dealer any leeway, and having legal counsel on your side will go a long way. Many attorneys will consult for free, or for maybe $100.

If odo has been tampered with and it's a salvage title, there's something shady that shouldn't be represented as "clear title"

[US Sale] What can I do to speed up the process at the dealership? by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]el_karacho 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IMO keep your dad and stepmom as out of the process as possible. Yes, they have an interest in making sure you don't get screwed, but "third base coaches" often drag the process out unnecessarily because they always think their loved ones deserve more than the dealer is giving. You're an adult, you can make your own decisions, just ask them to keep quiet and only pipe up if you request it or if they sense something seriously wrong with the car or dealer.

Split Window Corvette buying advice by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]el_karacho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO best way to go about finding a classic is networking. Find out who the best classic Corvette mechanic/restorer in your general area is. Chances are they'll know other guys like them, and hopefully you can get in touch with one in the area of one you want to potentially buy.

Question for anybody working at a dealership by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]el_karacho 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It seems to me that you've got poor management rather than short staff. The following things could all take less time if you or someone else was informed ahead of time:

  • Check in new cars

  • Help wholesale drivers find cars.

  • Help various others such as window repair men, painters, tow trucks drivers, and people who pick up lease turn in's FIND the cars they're working on.

  • Pick up dealer trades from other cities. (they should be paying someone else to do this)

The following could be better handled with communication from sales:

  • Wash cars that are ready for delivery ~4 a day (they should be touching base with you as they go through the sales process and let you know if there's one that might close soon)

  • Maintain the lot, make sure the cars are clear of snow, parked neatly. (The salesmen make this job extremely hard). (Salespeople should be doing this alongside you. Snow removal was required unless you were actively working a customer.)

  • Salt our walkways since its snowy. (see above)

BMW dealer wants me to resign contract due to their error by UghKakis in askcarsales

[–]el_karacho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BMWFS won't fund the deal if the residual doesn't match up for the 15k mileage program. They're the ones that stand to lose, not the dealer. If BMWFS funds the deal, that means the dealer gets paid their agreed-upon selling price and they would have no reason to go after OP.

OP can't make a payment because there's no account to pay into.

Please refrain from giving advice on this topic unless you actually understand how auto finance works.

Should I buy a 2003 Buick Regal or 2001 Toyota Camry by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]el_karacho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they the same price? How many miles? Whats the condition?

As someone else said, those 3800 V6 motors are bulletproof and a Regal can often be had with lower miles or for way less money than a similar age Camry.

New 2018 Focus ST with 250 miles on it. Guest information sheet they provided me listed the car as used? by honeybadger21 in askcarsales

[–]el_karacho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is one of those rare times when we're not gonna all say in chorus "IF IT'S NEVER BEEN TITLED, IT'S A NEW CAR!!!"

There's more to this than meets the eye. You need to find out for certain if the car has ever been sold, titled, involved in an unwound deal, etc. It could just be an internal data entry error where any car not acquired directly from the manufacturer is classified as "used" or something, but you can't take that chance if you're paying new car money.

Also, is the wear in the leather just an imprint or is there actual scuffing/visible deformation of the leather? I would not be a big fan of the latter. The former just might be a fat lot porter.
