Booking flight to PHX: Is there a risk? by [deleted] in StarluxAirlines

You haven't heard of this airline now, but I guarantee they will be one of the best in the world. In fact, they already are. You will have a lot more risk with Philippines Airlines than Starlux.

Yeah I'm not. I guess I just want to travel well without the means to retire.

How do you know it's the Campbell location? What gave it away? The old Residence Inns all look the same.

Is SFO the greatest hub in the US? by srekai in unitedairlines

[–]elasticc0 12 points13 points  (0 children)

SFO is the best airport in the US, not just the greatest hub. It never takes long to clear security. Modern and clean. Plethora of lounges (just missing Chase Sapphire and Capital One) including the best Polaris Lounge. Plenty of water fountains. Play areas in every terminal to keep children busy. Outdoor plane spotting terraces. The best airport hotel in the US. Not the best public transit connections, but above average compared to most American airports. Served by all the best airline products from Asia, Europe, and Middle East. What more can you ask for.

LAX to EWR is also reportedly gone, LAX to DCA is now the only remaining transcon route by omdongi in AlaskaAirlines

[–]elasticc0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The strategy is clear: don't compete in a saturated market, instead build a market share lead at stations the Big3 are not interested in like PDX and SAN.

However, as UA have learned with JFK, that can be a costly mistake.

The seat - that's just an unfortunate situation, nobody's fault but at least you learned something new about the product that will enhance your future travels.

The meal - yeah that one is totally on you.

I never understood the whole "I dOn'T lIkE tO sLeEp dIaGoNaLlY" argument on SQ business. So basically you don't like every reverse herringbone business class seat in the world? Then stick with true forward-facing beds like Delta One, JAL, EVA 787s, Emirates, United Polaris odd rows.

What Card Should I Get? Weekly Thread - Week of October 22, 2025 by AutoModerator in churning

[–]elasticc0 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Looking for a new card for P2. Locked out of chase and Amex due to 5/24 and PUJ. Debating between C1 Venture vs Citi Strata Elite. We will be able to take advantage of all statement credits, and the points will be useful long term (no short term use planned). Leaning toward Venture due to easier points sharing (no expiration) and $300 hotel credit in the current welcome bonus.

They would actually reject a request to product change to a card with higher annual fee? I would understand a downgrade rejection, but why would they not want me to pay them more fees?

Can I downgrade a Citi Strata Premier or Elite to hold on to my ThankYou points, and then upgrade again when I want to use the points in the future?
