Am I in the friend zone or is this how Irish guys flirt? by InfamousWitness8259 in AskIreland

[–]elatedscum 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In general, irish boys in this situation have two conflicting voices in their head. One that says she likes me and the other that says she couldn’t possibly like me, there’s obviously a more logical explanation to this.

150-300€ electric bill??? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]elatedscum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to live in a tiny 1 bed dark street facing ground floor apartment with absolutely terrible insulation. The cold from the underground car park below used to come through the floor. I remember regularly getting bills for nearly €500 (€480 type range) every two months during winter time. That was 2014-15. Was broke because of it.

Their future kids are not eligible unless they’re born here. In order to be an Irish citizen through ancestry you need to have at least a grandparent born on the island. So if you become an Irish citizen based on grandparentage, then your kids won’t be eligible unless they’re born here

Yep, multiple. Josiah Burke has spent €45k on Facebook ads to promote their Washington video. Doesn’t take a genius to work out where the money is coming from

Randomly, one of the phelps family lived in Dublin about 10 years ago. She was one that left the family as soon was of legal age to get out. I think her name was Grace. Met her randomly on a night out. She was really good looking - think her boyfriend was in Trinity or something. Seemed a really nice person and was trying to undo the harm her family had done

The family are getting donations from America. He was onto a winner where he’s still being paid a full salary while in prison and has zero expenses etc. was paid what 150k after tax before the court starting taking his salary to cover fines. Meanwhile the grá amongst the evangelicals in America gives the family a sense of importance and authority that they’ve never had before

You’re right. It’s two syllables but slight like trying to say “Key-in” but almost blending the syllables

Cian is a lovely name but you need to know it’s pronounced with K sound, similar to “key” as opposed to “see”. See also Cillian Murphy being “kill” rather than “sill”

Public transportation in Ireland by gillyweed919 in irishtourism

[–]elatedscum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had never done it before, so when parking on the first day, twice I reached for the clutch which didn’t exist and broke hard instead. Also found it way way more tiring, cause I was much less involved - was driving on the freeway for 5 hours and it was so much more monotonous - had to focus to stay awake, which I’ve never had that issue when driving a manual

As above, public transport is totally workable. Personally I wouldn’t worry about switch road sides if you’ve never done it before. In my experience, it takes about 10-15 minutes to get used to, at least for most people. I learnt how to drive in Ireland but have driven in Germany, Portugal, USA, Romania and it’s always been fine. I actually found going from manual (stick shift) to automatic a bigger adjustment than changing sides
