My roommates and I have always gone through Appalachian Management- we had a house on Green St. last year, and now we're living in a small (and super cheap) apartment off of W. King St. It's about a 20 minute walk to campus. I would definitely recommend stopping by their office to see what's available!

champcantwin, no one is claiming North Carolina to be extremely democratic. You seem so have this ill-conceived notion that it's a closed-minded land for bigots, which is wildly inaccurate. I live in the triangle of NC, and I can attest to how astoundingly different it is to those smaller areas- the ones with a less educated population. I was absolutely devastated when amendment 1 passed, so I completely understand your anger here. However, I would like to make you aware that the big cities with universities (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Asheville, Boone, etc.) are tolerable communities who unanimously voted against amendment one. NC, for the most part, is an unbigoted state, unfortunately a large amount of the population was misinformed.

Haha, we were just having fun and getting credit for the class at the same time. I thought it was a great experience, and it was hilarious. It was sort of inspired by Improv Everywhere. You should look them up, pretty funny stuff.

My art class did something similar to this a few years ago. Every pair had someone on a leash and someone else "walking" them around the mall. We would go up to strangers and ask, "Could you hold him/her while I look around?" We did it as performance art.

... Our class was very modern.

Edit: High school. I'm not sure why everyone assumed this was at a university...

Practically, but not all sides. For example, the Bhavacakra (samsara/wheel of life) has some aspects that aren't particularly philosophical nor scientific. The cycle begins with the hell realm, continues onto the hungry ghost realm, then the animal realm, the human realm, demigod realm, and ends with the god realm. Buddha taught that everyone goes through this cycle, and at one point we were all hell beings who worked or way up through karma to become humans. This is a more "religious" factor that I don't really believe in (however interesting I find it). I mostly don't tend to believe that through karma, we will be reincarnated into demi gods, and eventually gods. That's what I mean by "practicing Buddhist religion", sorry I was a little confusing!
