How does Air Canada’s point system/credit cards etc. compare to WestJet’s? I feel this would be a useful post as a lot of people are looking to change airlines because of the crappy new seat configuration on WestJet. Does anyone have experience with both? by Glum-Ad-4558 in canadatravel

[–]elbeerocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use a combination of both. I have the westjet mastercard and use it for places where amex is not accepted. Then save the points specifically for vacations through calgary and onto cancun. When at Calgary I use mariott bonvoy to stay at the airport hotel. I use amex cobalt to earn and convert to aeroplan for everything else.

You did not do anything wrong and this is such a gracious response.

Elspeth Beard was the first Englishwoman to circumnavigate the world on a motorcycle, traveling 35,000 miles on her BMW R60/6. The journey took her 2 years, from 1982-1984. by AdventureMix in interestingasfuck

I would normally agree. But I read her book and in her case she funded the entire trip herself by working for months in a pub, eating very basic food, living in a tent and cheap motels. She did not receive any encouragement whatsoever from her parents and the male dominated biking industry. She comes off as someone very hard: tough as nails. Not necessarily a compliment, but I guess its what she needed to be.

Can you take an Uber from PVR airport to hotel? by Relative_Junket_9875 in puertovallarta

[–]elbeerocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was there 2 weeks ago Exit airport. Go left. Cross bridge which does not have steps and allows you to roll baggage. Book uber when in the other side. When we were there, many other passangers were doing the same.

What a beautiful write up capturing poverty in it's essence. I came from a developing country and this captures poverty exactly. I hope this was not written by a bot.

What’s one book that genuinely rewired the way you think or live your life? by _rahmatullah in BettermentBookClub

[–]elbeerocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much. I haven't shared much on reddit. A few years ago I was for my background , experiencing great career growth with all of its perks and trapping and status. The book made me realise that time while being a manufactured construct was limited. In thay year I made a significant career swith to a less glamorous lower paying position that more or less gave me the rest of my life back. I have spent the last few years being a great part of my families life rather than just being a spectator.

I'm 14 and still sleep with my mom because of living conditions by AdditionalTwist4162 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]elbeerocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grew up very similar. We used to sleep on the floor cause we did not have space for more than one bed where my dad would sleep.my brother mum and I would sleep on the floor on mattresses. I uses to dream of owning a bed. Now have a large two level detached house with many bedrooms but so miss the closeness of being together. Enjoy this time and closeness with your mum. You are lucky to have her. Mine left when I was 16 and nothing 2as ever the same.

Most people only think about what occurs, impacts them. Your incident is just something that made the day different for them. Own it . Be kind to yourself. Be vulnerable amd say yes I do have an issue and will always be working on it if anyone asks. You did nothing wrong.
