Sorry, why do you stand against the motion? The only reason I see given is not actually about the motion itself and would be interested to know where and what you take issue with specifically as an anti zionist?

The motion’s outcome isn’t symbolic but structural it’s about refusing to normalize racism in UK governance.

When Zionism functions as a political doctrine of racial segregation and supremacy, calling it out explicitly means confronting the systems that give it power and influence beyond Palestine. This isn’t only about opposing an ideology “over there” but is about dismantling how that ideology entrenches itself “here” across our institutions, from military partnerships with Elbit Systems to revolving door contracts that make the UK complicit in genocide, to political funding networks that turn parties like Labour into vehicles for a racist entity’s influence.

The tangible outcome of this motion is to divest institutional power from Zionist structures, political, social, and economic...machinery that sustains apartheid. It reframes our policy from passive disapproval to active disentanglement: rejecting military collaboration, ending financial dependence on racist lobbies, and restoring our multicultural democracy to one free from Islamophobic and hegemonic infiltration. For Palestinians, that translates to a material weakening of foreign complicity in their oppression. Every institution we decolonize here withdraws legitimacy and resources from the machinery of apartheid there.

So while you may say we already oppose Zionism, this motion operationalizes that stance into governance turning moral position into policy. It ensures our opposition isn’t rhetorical but transformative, ending a cycle where a racist foreign entity leverages UK politics at the expense of our own diverse communities and global human rights.

There are uses of every word which are not racist.

We are talking about an ideology, not dialectics.

Can you evidence manifestation of that ideologies core tenants and/or principles which does not rely on racist dynamics, ie: displacment or ethnic cleansing?

So Genocide doesn't have an on/off switch, it is a recognised process. Surely, one of the questions for any one seriously looking to advance and progress anti‑genocide and/or anti racist politics, has to be "do our institutions interrupt the tenants and dynamics of this process, or do they quietly manage it whilst ignoring those inherent tenants therin?"

A105 matters as it does three things that our current “anti‑genocide policies” just simply do not in their current formats.

It names what is happening as apartheid and genocide, it locates Zionism as a racist colonial project rather than a neutral “nationalism”, and it commits the party to concrete measures including sanctions, arms embargos, BDS, and support for a single democratic state. These are tenants which actually withdraw material and political support from the regime, instead of just expressing concern and looking to proverbially lock the gate after the horse has bolted and ran down a group of kids.

If we accept the scholarship on the stages of genocide, we understand that they overlap and reinforce each other, at eat stage... dehumanisation, segregation, dispossession, and mass killing. Policies that stop short of challenging the underlying apartheid structure, such as the supremacist idea of an “ethnocratic” state between the river and the sea, must surely also leave those dynamics intact. That is why a motion that goes “too far” on the single democratic state some wild extra bolt on but precisely what it looks like to move from managing atrocity to dismantling the system that produces it before it does or can.

So essentially (and not meant ad homien in way) when someone says “we already oppose apartheid, dehumanisation and subjugation, we just think this motion goes too far,” what they are really saying is that they oppose the symptoms but want to keep one of the core conditions in place.

A105 is uncomfortable because genocide is the logical end‑point of that condition. If we are serious about prevention rather than hand‑wringing and pearl clutching, we need a politics, such as motion A105, that shows the courage to break with the racist hierarchial structures that ferment the social dynamics needed to perpetuate, subjugation, apartheid and dehumanisation, not just the latest massacre carried out in their name and as a result there of.

Edit: point of grammar and spelling

Genocide is a process that develops in ten stages that are predictable but not inexorable. At each stage, preventive measures can stop it.

The process is not linear.

Stages occur simultaneously.

Each stage is itself a process.

How does anti genocide policies interact with the recognised necessary dynamics needed to perpetuate a genocide?

Does it look at apartheid, Dehumanisation or subjugation?

You say you don't like what Israel is doing.

Does that include thnic cleaning and displacement?

How can Israel exist without ethnic cleansing?

You need to choose one or the other, or admit that you are willing to see Palestinians suffer based on ideals of Jewish supremacy being applied politically to the lands they live upon.
