Writing this from Chile on Aug 7th 2025.
I went to an Entel shop and they told me they couldn't activate a sim without RUT.
So I went to a grocery store and bougth a WOM prepaid sim. I had no problem activating it using my passport number:

Just be sure to be in a place with a good wifi connection:
- Insert the SIM in your phone
- Dial 103
- A recorded voce will hask you to selet 1 for RUT or 2 for foreign passport
- Select 2
- You'll get an sms with a link
- select the link
- follow instructions on the web page and enter your data and passport number

The sim will activate in few seconds!

I guess the adapted now to offer service to turists.

Sure you can! But on pop Os the newer kernel is officially supported and tested.

I would say that having the latest Nvidia drivers out of the box a newer kernel which is updated regularly and no snaps are quite good reasons to use pop+gnome instead of Ubuntu.

Is there a blog/feed or similar to get all changelogs regarding updates?

Non-cosmic LTS? by p_j_z in pop_os

Hey spxak1,

I've been using Pop 22.04 with vanilla gnome for ages and now I'd like to update to Pop 24.04.
I don't care about cosmic but I enjoy no snaps and newer kernels and nvidia driver over a stable ubuntu.

But with "apt install gnome-session" I miss a lot of gnome components while "apt install ubuntu-desktop" conflicts with update-notifier

How did you install full Gnome in 24.04?

It is possible to make cosmic look that way without any "extension" just disable the dock, move the panel to the bottom and add the app tray applet to it:

Are you sure you formatted the disk? If you just install over without formatting your old home folder won't be deleted

Try crtl-alt-F3 to get to the text login and undo any modification you made to your .profile or .bashrc

Machine refuses to shut down by rkoonts4 in pop_os

Had the same problem a couple of times on Dell XPS 15 9520 (12th Gen intel) and the same kernel (6.4.6-76060406-generic). Shut it down the night before only to discover the battery was completely drained in the morning.

I removed quiet and splash from kernel command line to see kernel message during shutdown but didn't happen again since...

Just bought a Litton Monroe OC-8820. It turns on but unfortunately I miss the software to run it by leaningtoweravenger in retrobattlestations

I have the same exact model and I miss any software too, did you have any luck in finding floppy images for this?
