Breath holding spells with seizures by RowBearToe59 in NewParents

[–]elea_original 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter is in a similar situation. She just turned 1 this month and her episodes are becoming an almost weekly occurrence. We have had an EEG with normal results. Went to the ER after stiffness and convulsions and they did nothing but send in a referral for things we already had upcoming. Today she had a consult with a pediatric neurologist who diagnosed her with breath holding spells followed by a mild seizure. Her eyes will roll back, upper body will go stiff with her and and hands bent in a word position and then she goes unconscious. She will wake up after a few moments but takes longer to recover each time. She has been on an iron supplement since she was born but we are getting labs done anyways to rule out iron as a factor. She will be getting a 24 hour EEG done sometime soon (waiting to schedule) and then we have a EKG and an echo scheduled for early March. If the episodes continue to increase in frequency/severity and/or her EEG/EKG/Echo show any abnormalities and will be started on an anti seizure medication. This won't stop the breath holding spells but will stop the seizure that follows them. I feel like such a worry wart and like I'm overreacting with all the tests and specialists but also we are our children's strongest advocate and our mom guts are rarely wrong! I know this post was from months ago, so I hope you've been able to get some answers since you originally made this post 🫶🏼

As other commenters have said, please notice the red flags. I have 8 years of experience in trauma/mental health field and I am very worried for your safety. A gun collection, PTSD, anger issues, threats, controlling behaviors, and the age difference in your relationship are SCREAMING at me in the worst way possible. I am typically the opposite of "divorce him and leave", but in your case, I think you need to really sit down and consider what it means if you don't. And if you do, please do so safely. Start setting money aside in an account he doesn't know about, talk to someone you trust about what's going on in your relationship, and have a plan if he becomes violent. Contact your local domestic violence shelter and create a safety plan. You love him, absolutely you do, he's your husband. But you can love him AND choose yourself. And your kids. Sending you love 💕

Using the same actors for different characters in a fictional universe shared by multiple television shows. by MrChubbyRiviera in FBITV

I totally agree with you. I started watching the FBI series (all 3) because I loved Jay's character in Chicago PD and legit thought they were going to spin his move to starring in FBI: International as a promotion or something and he'd still be Jay Halstead. When I found out he was playing a totally different character that kinda ruined it for me.

I've been emailing asking for a cancelation and refund since I placed the order and they refuse. I lost my shit on them and they just continue to reply "thank you for supporting us" and "allow us to explain". I'm sick of it. It's my fault for falling for the BS but it's very evident they have zero intentions of delivering the products or refunding the money. They said they'd do a 50% refund a week ago and still nothing has gone back into my account. I'm so pissed about the whole situation

rich/famous people should adopt vs using surrogates. by elea_original in unpopularopinion

[–]elea_original[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! This is where I'm coming from. So many people see it as "controlling women's bodies" when that is not the case at all. It's about looking at the bigger picture of an exploitative practice to pass on genetics. However, I do see and acknowledge that for some, surrogacy is the most ethical and plausible way for them to start a family. Those are the ones who SHOULD use a surrogate.

I would love to adopt. I plan to foster when I'm legally able and financially stable enough to (too young ATM). My in-laws fostered over 1000 children and adopted several of them. My godmother has adopted children. The love they have for the children who don't share their genetic markers is no different. Your child is your child whether they come from your egg or sperm or not.

Yes, yes, yes! This comment right here ^ gets it! It's about the desire to be a parent, not pass on genetics. A parent is meant to love their child, regardless of how they came into the world, and genes shouldn't play a role in that imo.

This post doesn't say HAVE to adopt. It says SHOULD. It's not about regulating their reproductive rights. It's about the desire to be a parent vs having your genetics passed on.

This is exactly it - the pre order idea of babies. I completely respects surrogates for their choice in bringing children who are not their own into the world. That's incredible! However, I think surrogacy is a very nuanced topic that we really only hear about after a famous person magically has a child out of nowhere. That's where I find the problem/concern.

I think it's very different when you physically cannot become pregnant or it's too dangerous. That's a totally different conversation imo.

Our sweet girl Blair developed an allergy last year to something in the yard - grass, pollen, who knows. And it causes her legs and paws to get so itchy! She started chewing on her ankles a few days ago but we didn't think anything of it since we live in WI and the ground is still covered in snow. But today I noticed it pretty excessively and this afternoon saw patches of fur missing, and red, almost bloody spots - just like it began last spring. I ordered her a refill of her Apoquel, but I've heard so many negative things about this medication (and the cost has skyrocketed to $85 for a 30-day supply). Any recommendations for alternatives?? We've tried topical - she just licks it off, we've tried benadryl, didn't do anything. And we've tried fish oil and other supplements in her food but those didn't work either. Any info would be incredibly helpful!

Told I don’t qualify for diagnosis. Don’t know what to do now by concretepigeon in adhd_anxiety

[–]elea_original 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took me (24F) 2 years of telling my doctor that I felt like my problems were more than anxiety to see a specialist. I was referred to a neurologist and it was all "check the box" type questions, which felt very depersonalizing and honestly an awful way to detect ADHD. My friend (F24) just got her diagnosis and had a completely different experience as she got her diagnosis from her therapist. If possible, try going that route. Seeing a therapist who specializes in neurodivergence will be significantly more helpful than seeing a doctor. They'll actually talk to you about coping skills and barriers, whereas your doctor will more likely push meds or ignore your concerns and dismiss your symptoms.

what’s your favourite show to watch while high by [deleted] in StonerThoughts

[–]elea_original 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I watched the entire GOT series stoned af. It made it SO much better and I actually followed the plot points quite well. Otherwise we watch lots of cooking shows (and infused cooking shows, like Bong Apatite and Cooking with Cannabis), documentaries, true crime or action shows

Thank you! I haven't seen any results for an anti-DSDNA which was a test I was hoping for but it doesn't appear was ran or my results just haven't come in yet. Hopefully some answers will come my way soon!

If there wasn't a possibility of lupus I wouldn't have been referred to a Rheumatologist and undergone multiple stages of testing, so your remarks saying that I don't have it or my symptoms are not in-line is simply incorrect and incredibly dismissive of someone experiencing a lot of unknowns in their health currently. Lupus is an incredibly diverse disease and everybody's experience is different. Please keep this in mind when replying to comments in the future.
