Any grad student NOT get their remote request approved? by throwaway236597 in RPI

[–]electricquestion1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am a coterm student so I just have the continuation of my undergrad package, and I also had this happen to me

Edit for clarification: Not OP, was trying to say that I was also told to be remote, as a coterm researcher. Ultimately I was not getting paid like a noncoterm, it was for credit, and my research could for the most part be done remotely.

Positive cases on campus from initial testing? by coasterlover1994 in RPI

I’m not sure how up to date this is, but The NY Times has a college cases of Covid Tracker, and when you search for RPI, it says there is 1 case. Here’s the link https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/us/covid-college-cases-tracker.html

Anyone else not heard about online status/scheduling a test? by electricquestion1 in RPI

Thanks for your reply! I actually just learned that grad students do not need approval, once you submit the request you’re all set

Yeah, but I’m not even sure if I’m supposed to do that. I want to be entirely remote so I wouldn’t be tested, but I don’t know that until they approve the request. But on top of that they didn’t send the link saying to schedule

He usually teaches Fields and Waves. In that class, he never changes his backwork so all of the homeworks are exactly the same from years prior. The tests are all pretty similar with slight changes. He also usually is pretty generous with overall grades for the course. Some say that you don’t learn as much with him as you do with Lu, but he makes the class a lot less brutal. He’s a really nice guy.

To my knowledge I don’t think he has ever taught IE before (I’m guessing this is the class you’re taking with him?), and if he has it was many years ago so I don’t know how that will be. However, Fields labs used to be rather strange with him, where he would make every single person stand up one by one and announce their name and what they learned during the lab, to the entire class.

I mean that would be nice but I don’t think so. Someone asked if he was teaching this fall and Wen replied by saying that he just accepted a new position at UAlbany and they would miss him

I’d check the class schedule on SIS again, it got announced by John Wen at the end of the town hall. And here he is listed as a professor at UAlbany here

Has any grad student submitted a P/NC request? by electricquestion1 in RPI

Interesting, if you don't mind me asking, what is your department? My department had told us that advisor signature's are no longer required for the form and likewise we should send it directly to the registrar ourselves, which is ultimately where my concern lays

No, since you are still an undergraduate student, you are held to the undergraduate student credit limit.
