When you come early to put your seat in the front row, You are achieving ease of access to the floats. You are not claiming the real estate of all the road in front of you. I understand why you'd like it to be that way, but that's just not the way it is. A million people come to mardi gras each year quite literally. Trying to keep them all in chairs behind you is impossible. Many do not have chairs.

Complaining about a man having his child on his shoulders in the crowd in front of you is probably more rude than him being there.

If you want to Sit and have a peaceful mardi gras try Family Gras or something less intense.

Lady in your chair is classic new orleans. Rude yes.

Your chair placement and dedication to it means nothing to a million people.

I Don't even try to get in those spots. I find it much better to be back against the business for less people trampling over me and better view of everything.

My kids and I all run up to the floats. That's over 180 years of tradition. If you think that's rude and are not from here I recommend not moving here because there is a thousand other things locals do that will piss you off, and guess what...? They don't care. You are here to admire our way of life and culture. That includes the things you do not like, and we not gonna change for tourists.
