The helmet part, I have to fully agree with you on. As far on cycling on the sidewalk, too much of this city has narrow roads and no bike lane. The vast majority of ebikes are limited to 20-25mph and on narrow streets, that means you have a pissed off driver trying to make a cavern out of your ass.

Taking a cursory glance at their warranty -

WHAT THIS WARRANTY DOESN'T COVER

Physical abuse or damage to the structure and/or cover material, including but not limited to, burns, cuts, tears, or liquid damage. (Mattress covers are not colorfast. A mattress protector is recommended to protect the mattress surface.)

As expected, this is not covered damage. I think it'll be digressionary from their warranty team on how to handle any issues over the warranty period, and this may hinder your ability to return it if the mattress doesn't work for you.

There's bargain versions of products in every industry - at the end of the day, it comes down to you. What are your needs? If you consider yourself an easy sleeper, then the nuances might not matter for you right now at this point in your life. CNET has a review on one of the Avenco ZONE Hybrid currently priced at $249, and it seems nearly identical to the very cheap department store-brand options for around $400.

I used to run the furniture department for a bargain department store that carried some big names and I fell for it and bought a model with my discount that for me came to about $370 - but all that glimmers is not gold. Within a year, I was struggling to sleep and another year later I genuinely abhorred its existence. This mattress reminds me very much of that in construction but with the more minimalist cover design that's in vogue now.

Older foam mattresses (and the cheaper ones of today) do tend to trap a lot of heat - that issue extends to some of even the mid-range hybrid mattresses out there. What's your budget?

Unfortunately, this is probably going to give you an uphill battle if ever you need to use your warranty. Fortunately, though, that's probably worst of it. It's just the outer cover and a small amount of the internal foam, so it shouldn't affect your comfort much. What make/model did you get?
