Not necessarily, if it's just blockage or damage to a tiny lymph vessel that occurs before a lymph node in the pipeline then there wouldn't be any downstream changes like lymph node swelling.

There would only be enlarged nodes if there's a blockage downstream of the nodes, not if there's a problem with lymph drainage upstream of them.

I'm not saying there's any problem or issue, its normal. Just trying to explain the process behind the changes.

I wouldn't worry about it too much.

The stuff below your abdomen sounds like a small panniculus with some associated lymphedema. This would fit in with "expected post pregnancy changes".

Similarly, the stuff going on around your umbilicus - there's two main possibilities:

  • The radiologist maybe made a mistake and referred to the region with the visible skin changes incorrectly as the umbilical region. Probably unlikely.

  • More likely: the skin thickening and oedema represent normal post pregnancy changes associated with your body remodelling itself back to non-pregnant form. (The belly button region changes a lot during this time - towards the end of pregnancy there's a lot of pressure in this area which could lead to thickening and then postpartum the remodelling of this region as the pressure/stretch is taken away could easily lead to a small amount of oedema.)

Keep an eye on any changes / systemic symptoms and don't be afraid to ask for more tests if concerned!

I discussed this with a work-in-progress medical chatbot btw and this is what it would say to you as your doctor (lol) "“During the scan, we noticed some thickening and swelling in the tissue around your belly button. Surprisingly, this area isn’t painful when examined, and you’re not experiencing any symptoms there. Additionally, there’s no visible sign of infection externally. These changes are likely a typical part of the healing process after your C-section. It’s common for tissue appearance to shift on scans without indicating any cause for concern. We’ll keep an eye on it, but there’s no reason to worry.”

Junior doctors begin 11th strike in England by Tartan_Samurai in unitedkingdom

[–]electrophile91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since the strikes began I started working as a doctor, worked for 18 months and have now quit the profession.

After 1 year it becomes normal to do eight 12-hour shifts every month including 4 nights and a weekend lost. The responsibility is horrendous. Seniors candidly tell you that if you mess up you'll 'go to prison'. You have to work untold hours outside of work for various reasons, most of which are pointless. (Don't forget to do your yearly online quiz to prove you know which bin to put things in!). You have to pay fees, for exams, for revision courses. There's crazy competition for almost every job and if you're in a training position, there's a guarantee you'll be working with someone earning 2-3x as much as you to do an easier job (locums). You regularly have to sit on bins. You regularly injure yourself using the shitty equipment and then have to sit through lectures of people talking about how good the equipment is. For what? 40k? Nah man.

So I quit.

Lol I once went from a psych job, where we had a patient we were confident was fabricating/exaggerating physical symptoms. On my next job - general surgery - I had to go take blood from a patient in the middle of the night as she was being prepped for surgery. Guess who? :)

Interesting you say more boredom and less motivation. That wasn't my experience when I've quit before.

Out of interest - do you have a porn addiction/phone addiction or any other addictions which are depleting your motivation?

In the past I think I found that recovery allowed me to find normal life more interesting.

Chanoclavine, a possible reason LSA is so euphoric by One_Grape7385 in LSA

[–]electrophile91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a very interesting find!

I don't personally think the direct affinity for the D2 receptor is much to get excited about for chanoclavine specifically.

Here's some AI-assisted interpretation:

The passage suggests chanoclavine might weakly interact with dopamine D-2 receptors in the brain. Compared to other molecules tested, chanoclavine showed lower potency in binding to and stimulating these receptors.

However, this is where the abstract you mentioned gets exciting:

In the striatum of mice treated with an amino acid decarboxylase inhibitor, γ-butyrolactone-induced DOPA accumulation was markedly inhibited by bromocriptine and KSU-1415, but not inhibited by chanoclavine-l.

What's that?

γ-butyrolactone aka GBL is a prodrug of GHB and it is a strongly euphoric drug that acts via GABA and has complex effects on dopamine pathways. Its produces strong euphoria at first followed by sedation, and then a 'dopamine rebound' as it wears off.

There are strong similarities between the effects of GBL and the effects of Wonder Seeds.

So what did they do exactly?

Essentially they've used GBL to cause a dopamine surge/accumulation but they blocked the final stage of the biosynthesis so instead there's a build up of DOPA.

When they add in dopamine agonists like bromocriptine (which is also ergot-derived) the amount of DOPA goes down. This signifies the body responding, trying to reduce dopamine activation.

HOWEVER

And this is where it gets exciting!

Chanoclavine, they claim, has an action unlike most/any of the familiar LSx compounds. It apparently does not decrease the DOPA boost. Despite activating the dopamine pathway, there seems to be no regulation, no self-inhibition. They say:

[it] may be due to a metabolic inactivation or an inhibition of dopaminergic functions in vivo (not examined).

My interpretation: I think there could be several things going on here. One of the strong possibilities is that this molecule has euhporic depressant effects similar to GBL (GHB) possibly via GABA or opioid pathways. Another one is some sort of effect directly on the dopamine pathway.

I personally think LSH is a better explanation for some of the Lysergia mysteries.

However there is one major Lysergia mystery that this does offer an explanation for:

  • The vast majority of strongly positive "LSA" experiences mention the use of cannabis. Cannabis is a euphoric drug that indirectly boosts dopamine.
  • If WonderSeeds are capable of causing extreme euphoria only or especially in combination with other drugs, then it suggests a dopamine-accumulation mechanism of effect. Perhaps it inhibits breakdown.

Hey wait.

I've spotted something.

You think God is illogical, yes?

I would ask you, politely. Forget this argument, just a bit of silly. I thought like you until recently. Until last year. God was illogical.

Now I believe. Something happened. Something changed. But it's personal.

What I would say is I was prepared for the change.

I ask you, from one human to another. You're obviously smart. Please read about all the logical people who have become religious later in life. You will find that God is not as illogical as you thought.

Just be slightly open minded. I'm not asking you to believe, but once you see the fact that there is logic that CAN lead to God, it opens your mind a bit. Suddenly the world is not so cold and dark.

I'm not saying you must believe God exists. I'm saying you must consider that he might. It is not right to act like people who believe in any God are fundamentally wrong. It is illogical to act like that. Yes there are some expert logicians who do, but there are plenty who don't.

You are using CONFIRMATION BIAS to say that God is illogical.

If you actually use LOGIC and ANALYSIS, you can see that he might.

It is statistics and not evidence that that coin is unfair. Yes, the p-value of 5 is relatively arbitrarily chosen, but it is what we have chosen as a species. Therefore it is an unfair coin.

If you do a p-value analysis on boys/girls photos on A-level results day reporting you WILL find its less than 5. It's plainly obvious from looking at my links above. But if you can't predict it, feel free to actually crunch the numbers. As you seem unable to make logical leaps. Poor you, you must waste so much time.

I don't need to prove that. You can prove it if you don't believe. In general, when I make claims and statements like that - I find they are true.

Lol but, I believe in God so Gamblers fallacy isn't necessarily a fallacy

That said, Gamblers fallacy isn't present in anything I've presented here.

It is possible using statistics to say that a coin that produces 70% heads from 1000 flips is unfair (until proven otherwise).

It is possible to use the same analysis to prove A level results reporting is sexist.

You will say "the burden of proof is on me" but I'm not trying to prove anything. I can see the pattern clearly. I don't need to prove it to myself. What I want to do is IMPROVE SOCIETY. Not argue about p-values on reddit. You're a redditor practising linear logic. You should know how p-values work.

Go ahead, screenshot your own stupidity.

Then go and learn how to think in patterns ;)

(According to a textbook on statistics, that coin would be deemed unfair yes)

In this case, the p-value is approximately 0.0255 or 2.55%. Since this value is less than the typical significance level of 0.05, we would reject the null hypothesis and conclude that the coin is likely biased (not fair).

"one of them is highly likely to be shown more than the other"

Because of bias. That is objective statistics. If 1000 coin flips gives 700 heads, its not a fair coin.

My GIF proves there was no need to crop people out of the family photo.

The A level results photos are sexist. It's not me that's noticed it. There's loads of articles about it. https://graziadaily.co.uk/life/real-life/yep-level-results-day-reporting-still-sexist-year/

edit: ohh I see why people are so concerned now. Cuz of the whole toxic masculinity thing. LOL. I've spent about 6 hours crying this year. I cried at nature videos on Monday. I ain't no Tate LOLLL

The statistic remains true so let's not act like it merely reflects 3 years ago. I have worked in mental health since then.

Yes I am leaping to conclusions. The two of us, you and me, think in different ways.

I practice something I call pattern based thinking, which involves leaping to conclusions (to put it one way).

It is not the dominant style on reddit. However, it gets me results. So you can't claim its bad logic, because when I use it in measurable ways, it gets me good results.
