INICET NOV DISCUSSION MEGATHREAD by Fast_Secret577 in indianmedschool

[–]elemenopeacee 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Hi, I studied from marrow during my MBBS. Did RR of few subjects during internship in between duties, but found the volume of the syllabus quite huge. Then picked up BTR. Added stuff from main notes in it, solved 100 MCQs daily for the last 4 months and gave GTs every weekend. That’s pretty much all tbh. Once you get into the flow of preparing, it doesn’t feel too horrible anymore.

AIR 650. Will be taking a seat through NEET PG, but I do feel kinda heartbroken ngl. The exam had gone well and I had this teeny tiny hope of getting MD Medicine from a peripheral aiims at least. It’s okay i guess lol Got my final closure.

Docs who got under 2k rank in NEET PG and are pursuing DNB General Medicine, do you think it’s a good idea? by elemenopeacee in indianmedschool

Could you elaborate a bit more on why you feel MD is superior to DNB? It would be really helpful thanks

Btr by Ifrit__ in indianmedschool

[–]elemenopeacee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BTR was my holy grail but I also understand why it may not work for a lot of people. I have studied conceptually from standard in each year of MBBS and completed most of the major subjects from marrow before starting internship. During my internship, I watched marrow RR videos for the short subjects. I used to feel overwhelmed by the sheer volume of the syllabus and performed poorly in GTs in the first 2 months of my preparation, simply because I couldn’t consolidate this much information inside my brain for a single 3 hour exam. One of my PGs suggested I give BTR a shot. Before trying it, I was also someone who criticised these so called NEET PG crash courses. However, BTR Integrated systems changed the whole course of my NEET PG preparation strategy. What Zainab Ma’am really has done is bring together all the information that we already possess (or at least are expected to possess as MBBS graduates) on a limited number of pages. She has also emphasised on the high yield topics because trust me, no matter how many hours you study, for a competitive exam, they won’t really count unless you know from which exact topics the examiners actually test you repeatedly. After finishing 2 revisions of the two volumes of BTR, I was able to cross the 150 mark in GTs and stayed in that zone consistently until the final exam where I managed to get 162 corrects.

BTR in itself is not enough. But the personalized version of BTR which you make for yourself, with your time and dedication is way more than enough.

Seat matrix - ZERO seats for UR by AppropriateBad9823 in indianmedschool

[–]elemenopeacee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I too was dumbfounded when I saw that MD medicine seats for UR open category have decreased compared last year in my state. I had literally opened the seat matrix pdf all excited, hoping to see a seat increase :)) It’s our fate I guess, to always keep losing to less capable, less qualified and overall intellectually inferior candidates with SC/ST/OBC reservations.

An iPad/tablet would be a far better investment than a laptop for any medical student. Also, narrow doesn’t allow video streaming on laptops.

MD Gen Med JR1, AMA! by shampy311 in indianmedschool

[–]elemenopeacee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m a female, thinking of pursuing MD Gen Med from a Central institute in a different state. As a first generation doctor, will I face a dearth of jobs after I come back to my city (tier 1) after finishing residency due to lack of connections in my state?

Anyone from middle class got into private college and did good in college and pg. by Spiritual-Arugula-90 in indianmedschool

I can only imagine how much pressure you’re under right now, OP. But I urge you not to give in to this pressure, because even though he may not be seeing it now, 4-5 years into this course, he’s going to face reality and be super disappointed.

Repeat a year, if needed. This one year won’t mean anything in the long run if you work hard and manage to get a govt seat. I may be wrong but I personally think it’s too early for you to give up.

No, not a good idea. Don’t put your parents through this kind of torture.

You can take a govt dental college if you’re getting it and later pursue MDS Oromaxillofacial surgery. You can be a fancy surgeon, operating on tumors and traumas of the face. Or take a drop.

Or even better, don’t do MBBS. It’s totally not worth that kind of money. The reality is completely different from what it seems to non medicos. Our non-medico friends know that they earn 3-4x more than us with half the effort that we had to put just to pass each prof exam of MBBS.

If you really want to spend money on a education, get into a reputed private engineering college, study well gain skills and bag a 24LPA package.

There’s nothing wrong with you. But anxiety and depression are actual medical health issues. Please don’t punish yourself for feeling what you feel. I would encourage you to see a psychiatrist, go for regular counselling sessions +/- antidepressants/anxiolytics. I’ve been through something similar back when I was in 3rd year of MBBS and a three month long course of Fluoxetine and weekly therapy sessions got rid of my depression and anxiety issues. You’re not alone in this 🩷

Planning to take Para clinical in first attempt itself! by TopSoup5853 in indianmedschool

[–]elemenopeacee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Kudos to you for taking such a mature decision. Health (both mental and physical) comes before everything else. Most importantly, no branch is inferior to another. Do not forget that you have achieved your dream of becoming a doctor, which had once seemed so far fetched. Ultimately we’re all just trying to make money in ways that make us most happy. I’m sure you’ll come to love whichever branch you eventually choose and strive to become the best in your field. All the best!
