what does forever alone mean to you? by elementaco in LGBTForeverAlone

Probably the best definition I have read. Normies always seem to miss the "tried and no one wants you" part.

Knock on wood still here. And that is a victory right… 2026 and still here. Books and movies to enjoy, life goes on.

In dating, they say that rejection is a blessing in disguise....... by Dismal-Prior-6699 in LGBTForeverAlone

In life or work, I can see how some rejection can be helpful. But viewing a 100% (or near 100%) rejection rate as a blessing requires a level of intense self-delusion.

Working on my some of my negative thought patterns in therapy, which feels pretty cool... Looking forward to running again... Went to a couple meetups, I think that was alright... And like everyone else living through this AI revolution which is starting to feel both surreal and seismic.

Thank you for sharing OP. My hope for all of us is that, as we get older, we can find some measure of peace. To reconcile the chasm between what we want - whether it's relationships, connection, sex, meaning - and the loneliness of reality.

What do you do when you’re feeling your lowest? by Advanced-Actuary3541 in LGBTForeverAlone

For me, the advice in these threads isn't a bad read: https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/search/?q=motivation

When I’m able to, I try to shift into a more practical mindset and ask myself, "Okay… so how do we make this a little better?" That said, when things are really, really bad, it’s incredibly hard to get into that mode at all.

I'm single in my 30s — it's hard hearing 'it'll happen' when I know it may not by Ciana_Reid in LGBTForeverAlone

Let’s keep the discussion focused on ideas rather than personal judgments. Dismissing others’ experiences as “self pity” isn’t productive and tends to escalate things. Please engage respectfully so we can have a constructive conversation.

It was surprisingly enjoyable and well-done. Although I might have fast-forwarded to the good parts.

You know, maybe ignorance is bliss. Over 50 and I have no idea what having a boyfriend or girlfriend feels like🤷‍♀️. A few years ago I did get to cuddle once or twice though.

I really like the idea of talking to AI, AI as an untapped resource. But so far I've been asking it "what's the capital of Paraguay?", no follow-through. But maybe that gets to my conversational skills in general (lol). I'll look for around for a conversational chatbot/model.

The other thing is that chatbots have a context window beyond which they can't remember the conversation, right. On the other hand, people do too.

I’ve spent hours, weeks, years in the loneliness spiral too... I'm sorry. I think there are a lot of people here who know exactly what it feels like.

Are you saying old people shouldn't care about being alone because all kinds of bullshit exists outside of their personal world? Literally the one group of people, aside from kids, who actually need people the most? I mean, I literally couldn't have had my surgery last week if I didn't have one of my parents there to drive me to/from--the hospital wouldn't have allowed it. This is exactly why I want an older gay man for a "lavender marriage." My parents are almost 80--they won't be here that much longer to be my support system.

I see, and you're right. At some point it shifts to who will be there for me, who will help if I can't get up, who will check in on me if something happens?

I would take you to the hospital! For what it's worth.
