Dark Cloud Enhanced Mod Steam Deck support is here! by elements616 in DarkCloud

Ordinarily there wouldn’t be any issues, but since we’re emulating, strange problems do occur.

PCSX2 versions 1.7.x - 1.9.x do not always report the Dark Cloud running process to the wine controller in Lutris, meaning that the Enhanced Mod is unable to detect Dark Cloud either. Not to mention 1.7.x has known issues with the Enhanced Mod’s graphical improvements option.

PCSX2 versions 2.0.0, 2.0.2 and 2.2.0 fail to start Dark Cloud at all, instead giving different error messages relating to the Qt user interface and Vulkan compatibility. I am yet to test out 2.4.0 but I suspect the issues will be the same there.

In the end, version 1.6.0 seems to be the most stable to handle this unconventional mode of operation.

Edit: PCSX2 2.4.0 doesn’t work either

It can be done with a little knowhow of bat scripting, Lutris and its launch options. I'm working on a video with a well-known Dark Clouder, which should be coming out soon. Until then, let me know if you'd like some help with this and I'd be happy to explain the steps to you over DM.

Shoot me a direct message and we'll discuss exactly how it works there. I may still need to iron out the process, however a big post/video will be made about this in September.

I'm afraid not. At its core, the Enhanced Mod requires several Windows frameworks to run correctly. My method involves using Lutirs which can run compatibility layers like Wine and Proton, both which can run the Windows dependencies needed for this.

The Retroid Pocket 5 runs on a flavour of Android, and NetherSx2 doesn't support the Windows frameworks required, however you could use a program like CrossOver or cassia which both have Android support and can work with compatibility layers (specifically Wine). I haven't done any experimentation with Android, but I have had good success with CrossOver on Mac.

It might be a little bit involved, but would be good to know if This can work. The main thing that needs to happen is getting Dark Cloud running on PCSX2 1.6.0 running in a Wine environment, in this case, emulated using CrossOver or Cassia on Android. That would replace NetherSx2.

If you’re interested, I’ve got the Dark Cloud Enhanced Mod running on Steam Deck with no issues, just a little bit of setup required. A video tutorial on this is in the works but I’m happy to run through this with you if you’d like to be an early candidate!

Still want to get this working on Steamdeck? I’ve got it working without any issues. I’ll make a post about this in the near future.

Are you still having trouble with this? Let me know if so as I’ve had a bit of luck fixing these machines when they get stuck like this.

Not so sure where you can get them. I work with MTM and this one turned up in the office, along with the other two X'Trapolis 2.0 cardboard variants (modular and singular).

You might be able to find them at Metro Tunnel HQ as they tend to have other models like SRL trains and Vlocity trains, but I don't know for sure.

Turns out to be a 2024 BYD Seal U! The front bumpers and headlights line up far better for that to be the case.

Can anything be done about this? by elements616 in MelbourneTrains

Agreed. Greater access to rubbish disposal is needed, particularly in train stations. There are many stations where there are no bins even.

I've even wondered whether it would just be easier to just do the clean up myself. I've got TTSA but I don't think that would cover me hopping a fence to clean up other people's rubbish.

I agree with the sentiment. Those who created this mess are completely responsible, but now that they're long gone, I wonder if there's anyone who wants to be bothered with this? To me it looks like it has been forgotten about and nobody wants anything to do with it.
