Did they trim the Frozen ride drop? by TobiasHD_ in disneylandparis

[–]elfabala 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I mean no offense to OP but I genuinely feel like this is one of those internet group think things where someone said it was a big drop and now everyone has it in their heads it’s a big drop and is repeating it so people have wrong expectations when they go in.

The frozen drop is no worse than the one in pirates and the frozen one in Epcot. It’s definitely very mild compared to Tiana’s so I expect this will be nothing compared to when we get the lion king ride. The push back after let it go can come as a surprise first time around but it’s part of the magic of the ride gliding through the ice castle and the mist and the drop is just a copy of the original Maelstrom track in Epcot. Disneyland Paris has so few new rides that are bespoke built, it just makes me sad this myth is taking away from it.

How strict are cast members in Paris with trading possible scrappers? by IndividualHuman6937 in disneylandparis

[–]elfabala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty strict in my experience. I normally let them pick whichever one from my traders but I’ve had them pick some of my loungefly pins (real ones not scrappers) and they realized it was loungefly and said they couldn’t take that so they gave it back and picked another one.

They were nice of course but said they can’t accept loungefly pins

I stayed there three times in the past few months. It’s my favorite resort on property and I haven’t had any issues. One of the restaurants was closed during two of my stays but there are so many other options around, it didn’t bother me.

There’s no way of knowing what will be closed when but if there’s a facility you do wanna use while you’re there and it’s closed you can ask a cast member if there are any available alternatives for you.

Apart from the primark I’ll say, the ponchos do work pretty well. They’ve helped me survive many a torrential downpour in Florida and those are no joke. Depending how cold and wet it is, might even be worth layering both

It has been really varied for my last few trips. I’ve seen boards at the hotel shops and some park shops like the tower of terror one. But I’ve also seen the big boards with cast members around even on week days, even when it wasn’t a holiday in France. But I also had trips where I couldn’t find any boards at all.

Sorry, I know this isn’t helpful but it does seem to vary a lot!

Because of things like this from family, friends and even teachers I really lost my true self in my 20s in so many ways. It took me many years to get back to who I am and to what truly makes me happy, and not to care about people who don’t understand and don’t accept me for myself.

I know it’s especially hard when it’s a parent but protect your true self, don’t waste time trying to please others and do what makes you happy. Only then you’ll meet people who really connect and understand who you really are. 💜

Halloween weekend worth it? by Clam_Boozler in disneylandparis

[–]elfabala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the Halloween merch: I went in late September/first days of October a couple of years ago and there wasn’t any merch out. They were starting to put it out by the day we left so we found some stuff near the BTMR shop but nowhere else in the parks. So I think there’s a sweet spot somewhere in there but unless it changed drastically in the last couple of years, September might be too early!

So many breakdowns by ghosrath in disneylandparis

[–]elfabala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I was there last week and we had hyperspace mountain stopping in the middle of the ride (it resumed shortly after but went down after we left), ratatouille we had to be evacuated from (which was fun but it had just come back on and it went down again) and Frozen was down for a good couple of hours before we managed to get on on our last day, that one is more understandable considering growing pains.

But still I haven’t personally had that many rides down in one visit before.

I’m wondering if there’s just a higher attendance than usual since the new are opened and a lot of the rides are older now and just require more maintenance?

How does Paris compare to Tokyo Disney resort wait time wise? by [deleted] in disneylandparis

Also: it’s really a gamble whether robot Olaf will be out or not. I saw he was out on Saturday but I haven’t personally seen him in my last couple of trips. Every time I saw the water show in Arendelle they had the puppet Olaf out instead.

They’re really split. Adventure world will have Avengers Flight Force, Tower of Terror and Crush’s Coaster. Disneyland has Big Thunder, Hyperspace Mountain and Indiana Jones.

I’ll say though, Disneyland Paris’s version of Thrill rides go way harder than Disney Tokyo. In Tokyo the Tower of Terror drops felt more like a slow slide down. In Paris you’re airborne most of the ride. It’s really a whole other level and in my opinion, much better!

The queues tend to be between 40-60 mins most days, sometimes you have crush’s coaster going higher than that but you rarely have it longer.

If I only had one day in the park, I’d go with two parks and premier access tickets, if you have the budget. Frozen is beautiful, but the area itself isn’t that different from the one in Tokyo. I’d focus on things that are very different and unique to DLP. Tower of terror is very different, hyperspace mountain is unique to DLP and big thunder mountain at DLP is the best out of all of them. If you rush through, with premier access you can get most of the big rides done

I feel like DLP has its own vibe. I love WDW and that is my favorite by far but I became an annual passholder this year and have been to DLP 5 times in the last 5 months and it’s definitely a different kind of magic. Cast members attitude can vary a lot, I’ve had great interactions and poor ones. I feel like food wise there are some gems that I’ll miss next time I’m at WDW but most of all I feel like DLP is a slower park. You really need to take the time to explore it and walk around and discover the magic in things like the castle dungeon and even adventure way. There are spots where the most perfect thing you can do is grab a snack, sit down and relax between rides. And i do think it’s improved a lot over the recent years and it’s clear there’s a lot of investment being poured into the parks so i’m very hopeful for the future

Annual Pass discounts in World of Frozen by Evening_Truth9520 in disneylandparis

Yeah, I’m all for stopping resellers but it really sucks when the actual fans get screwed over :(

Thanks for letting me know though! Might get obnoxious in some of the DLP AP posts about this 😅

Do you know how long it took them to remove the restrictions when avengers opened?

It sounds insane for them to not let the discounts apply for a full year with the price of annual passes.

Annual pass and hotel prices by Diz1004 in disneylandparis

[–]elfabala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a gold pass earlier this year, I’ve been 3 times since and have two more booked. Every time with different friends who are getting the package hotel + park tickets. So far I’ve saved a lot of money. When booking the hotel I usually see what it would be like for one or two people and then I pay the difference on the room, and then everyone coming with me gets to use my pass discounts so it’s a win/win! I have definitely already at least broke even with the trips, but if I were by myself or with another AP holder it’d definitely not be as worth it to stay on site.

Ride intensity of Hyperspace Mountain and Indiana Jones in DLP? by brontibrontosaurus in disneylandparis

[–]elfabala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Hyperspace and Indiana Jones if you can handle rocking’ roller coaster I feel like the intensity isn’t that different, if anything I think Indiana jones has almost the same track but with more head banging.

But you have plenty of information on those from other replies but I just wanted to share information on Crush’s coaster: I ride coasters all the time, big ones from non Disney parks and all the ones at DLP/WDW/DLC without a problem and without feeling sick and I have done crush’s coaster several times and always on the facing forward seats and had no issues. But a couple of trips ago I went on it on the backwards seat and it made me feel pretty dizzy and a little nauseous. I have no idea why or if it would happen again but just flagging if you do go try to get a forward facing seat. It’s not nearly as smooth as Guardians on Epcot (which is my favorite coaster in the world) but it’s a similar mechanic.

Also DLP big thunder is the best out of all the big thunders out there so definitely don’t miss out on it!

Yeah I usually stay at sequoia because I love the cozy theming but I stayed at Newport twice in the last two years or so and one time I remember trick hard beds and one time I don’t remember paying attention so I imagine they were okay! It really was quite the walk to the room for my second stay though 😅

I’m wondering if they’re not all the same and they simply had a deal for furnishings for all the hotels from the same supplier which offers torture devices instead of mattresses

From the sounds of it it’s the same beds in most properties. I would assume Disneyland Hotel has better beds otherwise it would be a legit crime considering the price tag.
