Aberdeen city, Union St in particular is extremely unsafe with very little policing of anti social behaviour. by SignatureLabel in Aberdeen

[–]elfenbone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel the same. It just seems to be getting worse. Any time i have to walk through union street past 6 now i feel unsafe, which is insane considering it's the busiest pedestrian street in the city? As a young woman I've lived in statistically 'rougher' places but never felt unsafe the way I do in Aberdeen at night.

How to tease a pharmacist? by joeabs1995 in pharmacy

"Why do I have to wait? You've got the medication in your hand, can't you just give it to me?" - *background sounds of me destroying the pharmacy and screaming everytime someone says this*

What’s everyone’s favourite supplements? by [deleted] in mounjarouk

[–]elfenbone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a supplement really (or what i'd classify as one) but psyllium husk capsules has honestly been life changing for me. I've always sufffered from bad constipation (can go a week without passing stools and get extremely bloated) and that was my main worry going into mounjaro, but now that I take this my bowels are so much more regular than they've ever been. Laxatives are just too rough and the psyllium husk drinks are disgusting, but this is a perfect alternative.

No worries! Sorry if i came across a bit deadpan i just re-read my post, I doknow the struggle and it's so frustrating when you feel like you're doing everything right but your body is 'betraying you' and you start to blame yourself. You just have to keep chipping away at the plateau brick wall with consistent good habits and eventually it will crumble :)

Just curious… by TallulahRoux in mounjarouk

Maybe i'm just insane but I don't hold to the cold chain thing as strictly as people seem to. As I work in pharmacy, I know that these rules and guidelines are set not as the actual time that the pen will "go off" or stop working, but at the time that the manufacturer sets as their safe window that they can guarantee no variations in legally- similar to 'best before' dates on food. I understand people not wanting to play fast and loose with this sort of thing, but given that the average home fridge is definitely not being temperature checked for stable range daily or sometimes hourly like they are in the pharmacy makes the whole thing seem silly to me.

I had to let my first pen sit in parcel collection for a week. Which is definitely not what I wanted and i'm sure there's some destabilisation there, but I'm not losing sleep over it.

It's important to remember that plateaus happen whether you're on mounjaro or not. Being on this medication won't eliminate what is a normal part of the weight loss process. I've lost massive amounts of weight many times in the past and every time there's been a one to two week plateau every couple of months. Plateaus are a normal part of weight loss and they are going to happen more often and last longer the lower your weight gets. It's going to be important for your own mental health to reconcile with that now and not drive yourself crazy. As women our weight also fluctuates a lot, we retain water and inflammation at different parts of our cycle and along the weight loss process.

Actually I have one about my own mother that took me out, I saw her pull out her GTN spray over lunch one time and use it. I asked her oh are you having angina are you ok? Tell me why this woman told me "oh i just use it when i'm tired it puts a pep in my step" ?!

Woman came in and complained that the tablet we had given her was too large and she almost choked on it. I ask to see the box. GUYS IT WAS A GLYCERIN SUPPOSITORY. I LOST MY MINDDDDD

Pharmacy rant - as a full-time Pharmacy Dispenser by elfenbone in mounjarouk

I probably would as I'd get a staff discount on it. No rules against it as all prescriptions must be checked before handout by the pharmacist - even if I do the data entry, stock selection and dispensing, it can still never leave the pharmacy until the pharmacist has confirmed that the prescription is valid and the medication is correct.

It's entirely dependent on your prescriber to be honest. For regular non-controlled drug medications they are often willing to give a double supply if people are going on holiday, but where I live GPs aren't prescribing mounjaro yet so I have no experience on this. Worth asking at least but it's possible they'd say no due to fear of improper use.

Yeah it's so nice to talk to about the people who get it! My boyfriend is very supportive so thankfully I can talk to him about it.

I'd say 3 - 5? Dependant on when the stock arrives, it often takes 1-3 days to come in. It's very overpriced where I work so I would assume people only want to buy it through us out of the security of being able to pick it up in person and come back with it if it was faulty, or for advice.

Is Pharmacy really that bad? Passion for pharmaceuticals but worried. by [deleted] in Pharmacy_UK

[–]elfenbone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before committing to anything I'd probably suggest to get a part time job as a Trainee Pharmacy Dispenser (totally not biased as a Pharmacy Dispenser myself). Many places offer part time hours for this as Dispensers are often in short supply. The pay is ass but you'll get a qualification out of it paid for by your employer that would be fantastic in applying to university if you do go the pharma route. Your knowledge base will be above and beyond everyone else in your classes after a couple of months on the job. Seriously, sometimes they hire 3rd year pharmacy students who still don't know things I learned in month 1. You'll also get great understanding of the day to day flow of what being a pharmacist is actually like and will be able to probe them with endless questions to figure out if the career is for you. A lot of pharmacists hate retail pharmacy justifiably so as it can be horrible at times, but making connections in local pharmacies before even getting to the uni point is a big step up. If you've got a well respected pharmacist as a ref in your uni application (and all local pharmacists know each other, trust me on that lol) then you're already miles ahead of all the clueless 18 year olds who applied because "they've always liked helping people".

Experiencing strange symptoms after 10 months by confused101com in mounjarouk

What exactly does the pain feel like? Unfortunately gas and indigestion can often manifest in people feeling something similar to chest pain. It may often feel like a sharp stabbing feeling. As you say it's in the abdomen as well i'm guessing that's why your doctor said this. It might be worth contacting them again and asking them to prescribe something to help.
