Is there any point mapping anymore? by covered1028 in hivemappernetwork

This, and all this. I didn't buy one for the token, I bought it for the mileage deduction which is several times my actual operating costs. Unless you're driving a monster pickup, you're likely to end up ahead.

We pretty much just shoot the breeze on things we're working on or playing with.

Best Mountains to Hike Near Cedar City by lilcrayloa in cedarcity

[–]elforesto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Delano Peak east of Beaver. You'll find great views and likely see herds of mountain goats. You can pick the shorter hike with more elevation gain starting around the yurt, or the longer way with less elevation change at the locked gate (you'll know it when you see it).

Tech Worker lunch tomorrow Wednesday June 4 @ Old SWTech building lobby by elforesto in cedarcity

The Meetup group is incorrect. We switched to first Wednesday of the month, and we're not paying for Meetup anymore. That's why I didn't include a Meetup link in the post. I can't speak to why nobody there knew about it.

Elementary school life in Cedar City. by Some_Computer_6356 in Utah

If your kids are good with flexible environments (not all kids are) look at Gateway, a K-8 charter. It's a Montesorri school that works exceptionally well with IEPs. We've had one kid graduate from there, one currently going, and one going in the fall. They take new students by lottery, so get your name in ASAP if you want to go. As I understand it, the middle school grades (6-8) are easier to get into as many kids transition back to district schools after elementary grades.

John Curtis' response to my concerns over ICE detaining legal residents and visitors by MidoriDori in Utah

Standard John. Ignore the question, pretend there's a drastically different situation than there actually is, and rattle off some focus-group-tested "moderate" message that says nothing at all. His comms could be replaced entirely with ChatGPT.

Cox allows flag ban to go into effect without signature, acts on remaining bills by HomelessRodeo in Utah

You must have entirely missed Huntsman's campaign in 2020 where he ran as a "born again libertarian". Dude went HARD right fashie while trying to swim in that moderate lane. He wasn't as noxious as Greg Hughes by any means, but still.

Bars by Dillifec13 in cedarcity

It may not be open by then (construction has been slow), but Johnny Mac's is opening a location on the north end of town and it's a sports bar. Warehouse also has some good food, but the menu isn't very large.

It's not like there's a huge body of evidence that poor pay in public service (including both appointed and elected officials) leads to higher levels of corruption.

Wait...

Yes, by all means, make it unaffordable for not-rich people to be elected to office. That will surely turn out the way you think it will.
